One Vanderbilt has reached a significant milestone in Midtown East. Construction has begun on the setbacks that will form the signature crown and hold the architectural spire for the supertall office building. White steel beams that make up the sloped top of the setback are visible on the western elevation, while the core walls are also rising and can be seen from a distance. Kohn Pedersen Fox is the architect and SL Green is the developer of the future 58-story tower, which will stand 1,401 feet when finished and yield nearly 1.75 million square feet of commercial space.
A new rendering from 3D architectural visualization studio NoTriangle depicts an updated design for Three Hudson Boulevard. The featured image shows a tall glass skyscraper that rises at nearly as high as the 1,009-foot 35 Hudson Yards. Several setbacks on the eastern and southern elevation of the future commercial office tower can be spotted. It is still being designed by FXCollaborative and developed by the Moinian Group.
Progress on the steel superstructure is moving quickly on the first of the Diller Scofidio + Renfro-designed pair of buildings on Columbia University’s new Manhattanville campus. These will be formally named the Henry R. Kravis Building and the Ronald O. Perelman Center for Business Innovation, and construction can easily seen from the nearby 125th Street subway station. The project will yield over 450,000 square feet of classrooms, faculty offices, lounge areas, and double-height spaces that will overlook outdoor green spaces.
The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation has revealed new renderings of Building 212, a five-story, mixed-use property within the expanding Navy Yard campus. In addition to manufacturing and office space, the 500,000-square-foot building will also house New York City’s first Wegmans supermarket.
Amidst the ongoing evolution of the Manhattan skyline, one of the most notable recent changes has been the completion of the Midtown East rezoning, which has already resulted in the rise of One Vanderbilt. Now, with 270 Park Avenue and other projects already on the development boards, Vornado and Rudin Management’s plans for 350 Park Avenue have been fully revealed, depicting yet another supertall that would rise almost 1,500 feet to its pinnacle. While the architect has not been confirmed, YIMBY is strongly suspicious that the design is by Foster + Partners, the firm responsible for the nearly-complete 425 Park Avenue.
