First Glimpse at Gene Kaufman-Designed 76 8th Avenue, Meatpacking

It’s been almost two years since we last checked in on 76 8th Avenue, on the corner of West 14th Street in the Meatpacking District. A few aspects of the building have changed since YIMBY’s last report. Mainly, it will now be a ten-story building, not twelve. This means the project will lose 7,000 square feet, reducing the total area to 30,000 square feet. And now, we have a first glimpse at renderings.

Bjarke Ingels to Design Revamped Collegiate Church Redevelopment, 3 West 29th Street, Midtown South

YIMBY has covered the tribulations of the Collegiate Church redevelopment since the wrecking ball descended upon the Bancroft Bank Building, and several of its neighbors. The project, given the address of 8 West 30th Street, then wound its way through the Landmarks Preservation Commission. Now, the Moshe Safdie design has been ditched for an office tower by Bjarke Ingels of BIG Architects.

420 Albee Square

Permits Filed for Office Tower at 420 Albee Square, Downtown Brooklyn

After several design iterations, it appears that work is finally set to begin on a new office tower at 420 Albee Square, in Downtown Brooklyn. What was originally expected to become the borough’s tallest residential tower saw a substantial downgrade in expectations when revised permits were filed in March of 2015, only for the shift to office to be announced in November of the same year. FXFowle is listed as the architect on the latest version, which will rise 36 floors and 495 feet to its rooftop.
