A large trapezoidal lot at 48-18 Van Dam Street in Long Island City may soon serve as the new headquarters for International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 813, a union that represents a variety of laborers in the New York City Metropolitan Area. Before the project can begin, the Department of City Planning will need to approve zoning text amendments to permit the construction of a mixed-use commercial building that is above the currently allowable height and density.

New York Korea Center’s Façade Begins to Emerge at 122-126 East 32nd Street in Murray Hill, Manhattan

Scaffolding is beginning to come down, revealing the exterior of the New York Korea Center, a seven-story building at 122-126 East 32nd Street in Murray Hill. Designed by Samoo Architects and Engineers (SAMOO) for Level Group, the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea, NY, purchased the property for $15.8 million in March 2008, including the use of nearly 4,500 square feet of air rights. Construction broke ground in June 2018 on the 120-foot-tall project, which is planned to yield a total of 36,500 square feet and is aiming for LEED Certification.

Installation of the glass curtain wall is progressing on Zero Irving, a 21-story mixed-use building at 124 East 14th Street in Union Square. Designed by Davis Brody Bond and developed by RAL Development, the building will yield 240,000 square feet of affordable and market-rate office space for technology firms and amenities for occupants. Financial partners Junius Real Estate Partners and Suffolk Construction are also helping to develop the property, which is located along East 14th Street between Broadway to the west and Third Avenue to the east.

Façade Installation Nears Completion on 799 Broadway in Greenwich Village

Exterior work is nearing completion on 799 Broadway, a 12-story office building in Greenwich Village. Designed by Perkins + Wills and developed by Columbia Property Trust, the 182-foot-tall structure will yield 180,000 square feet of commercial space marketed by JLL. The corner lot is located at the intersection of Broadway and East 11th Street, and was purchased by Normandy Real Estate Partners and Ares Management in 2016 for $101 million.
