Foundation Work Underway for Columbia University Tower at 600 West 125th Street in Manhattanville, Manhattan

Excavation and foundation work are underway at 600 West 125th Street, the site of a 34-story tower on Columbia University‘s Manhattanville campus. Designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop with CetraRuddy Architecture as the executive architect and developed by the Trustees of Columbia University, the 391-foot-tall building will yield 175,000 square feet with 141,565 square feet of community facility space, 5,000 square feet of commercial space, and 142 residences for graduate students and faculty members. The property was once home to a McDonald’s and is located at West 125th Street and Broadway, directly across from The Forum and Wallach Art Gallery, also designed by Renzo Piano. LERA is the structural engineer for the project.

Located between West End Avenue and Broadway, the 2,850-square-foot lot is currently occupied by a two-story commercial building built in 1910. Demolition for 27-Story Pace University Tower Complete at 15 Beekman Street in Financial District

Demolition is now complete at 15 Beekman Street, the site of a 27-story academic center and dormitory for Pace University in the Financial District. Designed by Manish Chadha of Ismael Leyva Architects and developed by SL Green Realty, the 338-foot-tall structure will be addressed as 126-132 Nassau Street and yield 213,084 square feet of classrooms, dorms, a dining facility, a library, and a learning center. The building will also have a cellar, sub-cellar, and a 20-foot-long rear yard.

The affordable housing lottery has launched for Balton Commons, a seven-story mixed-use building at 267 West 126th Street in Harlem, Manhattan. Designed by Aufgang Architects and developed by Lemor Development Group and Apex Building Group, the structure also yields a tech incubator space managed by non-profit Silicon Harlem, ground-floor commercial space, and community facility space. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 32 units for residents at 30 to 100 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $0 to $148,000.
