Permits have been filed for a four-story mixed-use building at 758 East 219^th Street in The Bronx’s Williamsbridge neighborhood. The site is just half a block away from the 219^th Street Subway Station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. The surrounding area is predominantly residential, with some retail surrounding the Subway Station. Marjan Gjonaj, owner of the site, will be responsible for the development.

$335 Million in Financing Secured for Second Phase of La Central Development, South Bronx

The team behind the La Central Development has closed a deal for financing towards the construction of their massive mixed-use project in the Melrose Community of the South Bronx. This is one of the largest mixed-income projects currently under construction in New York City. Once complete, the project will span 1.1 million square feet, with five buildings and 992 units entirely devoted to affordable housing.

Rendering Revealed, Permits Filed for 1935 Bedford Avenue, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn

Permits have been filed for a seven-story residential building at 1935 Bedford Avenue, in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn. The site is seven blocks away from the Parkside Avenue Subway Station at the corner of Prospect Park, serviced by the Q trains. The Winthrop Street Station is also six blocks away from the site, and serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. Bedford Holdings JV will be responsible for the development.

New Renderings Revealed, Leasing Begins for 411 West 35th Street, Hudson Yards District

New renderings are out for a twelve-story mixed-use building under construction at 411 West 35th Street, in the Hudson Yards District of Manhattan. The Lewis is named after Lewis Katz, who dedicated his life to improving the chances of success for younger people, particularly those disadvantaged by circumstance. This news corresponds with the launch of leasing for the 186 rental units.

Permits Filed for Robert A.M. Stern Architects-Designed 845 Howard Avenue in Brownsville, Brooklyn

Our last reporting on 845 Howard Avenue was after the NYC Department of City Planning gave approval to the Robert A.M. Stern Architects’ design in October. Now, permits have been filed for the site, which also goes by 3 Livonia Avenue, in Brownsville, Brooklyn. The project will be named Edwin’s Place, and will be the fifth project in Brooklyn by the non-profit partnership of Breaking Ground and The African American Planning Commission Inc.

Permits Filed for 30-14 Crescent Street, Astoria, Queens

Permits have been filed a seven-story mixed-use community facility at 30-14 Crescent Street, in Astoria, Queens. The site is six blocks away from the 30th Avenue Subway Station, serviced by the N and W trains. The Church of the Redeemer is responsible for the development. The proposal is on the site of their existing facility, built in 1866.

Demolition Permits Filed for 185, 187, and 189 Grand Street, Little Italy, Manhattan

Demolition permits have been filed for the home of the Italian American Museum, who operate out of 185, 187, and 189 Grand Street in Little Italy, Manhattan. However, this is not a disappointment for the institution. They had been trying to sell their current location for years, on the condition that they are provided with rent-free space within the replacement. They were finally successful in February 2017, when their buildings were purchased for $14.8 million by Oved Group and Nexus Building Development Group.

FXFOWLE-Designed School Revealed at 1-35 57th Avenue, Hunter’s Point South, Queens

Permits have been filed for a four-story, 612-seat public elementary school at 1-35 57^th Avenue, in Queens. The project comes as part of the redevelopment of the formerly-derelict Hunter’s Point South neighborhood, along the East River. The area has been activated over the last decade thanks to several residential towers and the HPS Park, alongside a new ferry terminal, which is just a four blocks away from the proposed school. The Vernon Boulevard Subway Station is also eleven blocks away, serviced by the 7 train. The New York City School Construction Authority will be responsible for the development.

Permits Filed for 132-49 41st Avenue, Flushing, Queens

Permits have been filed for a six-story community facility at 132-49 41^st Avenue, in Flushing, Queens. The site is four blocks away from the Main Street Subway Station, the last stop for the 7 Train in Queens. The surrounding area is a relatively dense commercial district compared to the rest of the borough, with the Queens’ Botanical Gardens located seven blocks south. Five blocks further is Flushing Meadows Corona Park. BDW Realty will be responsible for the development.

Permits Filed for 219 Hudson Street, SoHo

Permits have been filed for a 10-story mixed-use building at 219 Hudson Street, in SoHo. The site is two blocks away from two Canal Street Subway Stations, serviced collectively by the A, C, E, 1 and 2 trains. YIMBY last reported on the site in October 2015, when Joel Braver of Express Builders JB purchased the site for $13.2 million. The firm has retained ownership and will be responsible for development.
