Architect Karl Fischer’s latest development has taken rise in a buzzing corner of Brooklyn’s East Williamsburg neighborhood. When complete, the project will yield 33, 987 square feet of new residential property, 10,829 feet of prime commercial space, and a 24,070 square foot community facility. Filings also indicate enclosed parking volumes designed to accomodate up to 59 vehicles.
Permits have been filed for a new five-story public school at 1-55 54th Avenue in Long Island City, Queens. The site is two blocks away from Hunter’s Point South Park, a comfortable public waterfront space overlooking the East River and Midtown skyline. The project will be part of the revitalization of the southern tip of the borough’s East River waterfront area.
Redevelopments with thousands of residential units aren’t particularly common in New York City, however, the past several months have brought proposals for such projects to ULURP from several locations, including the tentative 1,642-unit expansion of Lenox Terrace, in Harlem. Today, YIMBY has the first look at plans for 2,200 new units proposed for the former Peninsula Hospital site, in Edgemere, Queens.
Permits have been filed for a ten-story mixed-use building at 161-11 132nd Avenue, in Rochdale, Queens. The site is about a mile away from the Locus Manor train station, serviced by the Long Island Railroad. Fifth Avenue Community will be responsible for the development. The organization is dedicated to creating affordable housing, educating, advocacy, and workforce development.
Permits have been filed for a three-story community facility building at 104-19 Roosevelt Avenue, in North Corona, Queens. Corona borders the Citi Field baseball stadium, and is also near Flushing Bay promenade overlooking LaGuardia Airport. The site is just a block away from the 103rd Street-Corona Plaza subway station, serviced by the 7 train. Make the Road NY will be responsible for development, and the business promotes equal rights and economic and political opportunity for immigrants in New York.
