443-Unit Residential Tower at ‘Parcel G’ Nears Topping Out in Hunters Point South, Queens

Construction is nearing topping out on Hunters Point South’s ‘Parcel G,’ a 33-story mixed-use tower at the southern tip of the Queens waterfront. Developed by Gotham Organization and designed by Handel Architects with SLCE Architects as the architect of record, the property will include 450 residential units, of which a portion will be designated for affordable housing, as well as a lower-level community facility. The site is located by the intersection of 2nd Street and 56th Avenue.

Renderings from NDKazalas Architecture offer a first look at a new mixed-use commercial tower in Astoria, Queens. The project is located at 35-01 36th Avenue and will eventually top out at nine stories or 140 feet above grade.

52-03 Center Boulevard Nears Topping Out in Hunters Point South, Queens

Construction is nearing topping out on 52-03 Center Boulevard, a 587-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper in Hunters Point, Queens, and number 26 on our countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in New York. Designed by ODA Architecture with SLCE Architects as the architect of record, the 56-story tower is the taller of the two structures in TF Cornerstone‘s Hunters Point South development. The building stands just to the north of its 46-story, 475-foot-tall sibling at 52-41 Center Boulevard, and the pair will bring a total of 1,194 residential units to the East River waterfront. Of these, 719 will be designated for affordable housing.

Affordable Housing Lottery Launches for Van Dyke II in Brownsville, Brooklyn

The affordable housing lottery is now open for Van Dyke II, a 12-story mixed-use development at 405 Dumont Avenue in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Trinity Financial in partnership with the city’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development, the Housing Development Corporation, the Housing Authority, the 205,500-square-foot will yield a total 188 units in a mix of studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 125 apartments for residents at 30 to 60 percent of the area median income, ranging in eligible income from $15,086 to $84,600.

Permits Filed for 101-01 113th Street in Jamaica, Queens

Permits have been filed for a five-story community facility building at 101-01 113th Street in Jamaica, Queens. Located at the intersection of 103 Avenue and 113th Street, the corner lot is a couple blocks from the 111st Street subway station, serviced by the A train. Baba Makhan Shah Lobana Sikh Center is listed as the owner behind the applications.

Hudson Companies Announces Commercial Tenants at La Central Affordable Housing Development in The Bronx

Hudson Companies has achieved a major milestone at La Central, a 1.1-million-square-foot affordable housing development in The Bronx, where a collection of new commercial tenants will soon open shop. Tenants include a community-based café, a sit-down Mexican restaurant, a take-out pizza shop, an organic grocer, and an operator for the 135-space on-site parking garage.

Located between Burdette Place and Parsons Boulevard, the through lot is two blocks south of the Parsons Boulevard subway station, serviced by the E and F trains. Designed by Heritage Architecture and developed by Evangelical Crusade Christian Church and BEL Community Development, the 65,335-square-foot building will yield a total 89 units. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 58 studio apartments for senior residents at 50 percent of the area median income, ranging in eligible income from $0 to $45,500.

City Council Grants Preliminary Approvals for 50-Story Redevelopment Project in Downtown Jersey City

A large-scale redevelopment project in Downtown Jersey City could soon begin construction following preliminary approvals from the Jersey City Council. The project is referred to as the Laurel-Saddlewood Redevelopment Plan and will replace two derelict townhouse courts with market-rate and affordable housing, a new public school, community facilities, and retail space.

Jehovah’s Witnesses Hotel’s Affordable Housing Transformation Imminent at 90 Sands Street in DUMBO

A former Jehovah’s Witness Hotel at 90 Sands Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn will soon be transformed into 491-unit residential property with a mix of deeply affordable and supportive housing units. From Breaking Ground, New York City’s largest supportive housing developer, construction is expected to kick off before the end of November.
