Jersey City officials, local community groups, and small business owners recently gathered to celebrate the commencement of a $6.7 million makeover of the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza. The plaza, or pedestrian mall, is located on Newark Avenue between Grove Street and Erie Street, and partially extends down Bay Street.
Permits have been filed for an 11-story Affordable Independent Residences for Seniors building at 2224 Cropsey Avenue in Gravesend, Brooklyn. Located between Bay Parkway and Bayview Place, the through lot is three blocks from the Bay Parkway subway station, serviced by the D train. Jay Zeldes under the Cropsey AIRS LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
Façade work is progressing on the topped-out superstructure of “Parcel G,” a 34-story tower in Hunters Point South, Queens. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Gotham Organization, the building will yield 443 residential units, of which a portion will be dedicated to affordable housing, as well as a lower-level community facility for Flux Factory and for kayak rentals. The site is located by the intersection of 2nd Street and 56th Avenue.
Permits have been filed for an eight-story mixed-use building at 414 East 152nd Street in Melrose, The Bronx. Located between Melrose Avenue and 3rd Avenue, the lot is a short walk to the 3rd Avenue – 149 Street subway station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. Shaya Seidenfeld of MZS Realty Corp. is listed as the owner behind the applications.
Construction has topped out on 52-03 Center Boulevard, a 587-foot-tall, 56-story skyscraper in Hunters Point, Queens, while its 46-story, 475-foot-tall sibling is nearly complete at 52-41 Center Boulevard. Designed by ODA Architecture with SLCE Architects as the architect of record, the two towers are part of TF Cornerstone‘s Hunters Point South development, which is set to bring a total of 1,194 residential units to the East River waterfront. Of these, 719 will be designated for affordable housing. 52-03 and 52-41 Center Boulevard are bound by Center Boulevard to the west, Borden Avenue to the north, 2nd Street to the east, and 54th Avenue to the south.
