Excavation In Full Swing for Tishman Speyer’s Spiraling Supertall, Hudson Yards

In June, Tishman Speyer announced that construction would start for their 64-story supertall office tower in the Hudson Yards district, dubbed The Spiral, so named for BIG’s staircase terrace motif. The look is indicative of the modern collaborative style of workspace the architects and developers are working to create. Permits Filed for 43-Story Hotel at 450 Eleventh Avenue, Hudson Yards

Yet another new high-rise is officially about to begin rising in Hudson Yards. Permits have been filed for a 43-story hotel at 450 Eleventh Avenue, across from the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and West 37th Street. The 34th Street Hudson Yards subway station is four blocks away. Atria Builders is responsible for the permit filings, and Flushing-based Marx Development Groups will be responsible for the development.

Thomas Heatherwick’s “Vessel” Lights Up as Testing Begins, Hudson Yards

With a grand and unprecedented presence in the Midtown skyline, Hudson Yards continues to stop tourists and locals alike, as steel and concrete continue rising into the sky. Several days ago, just after dusk, one aspect of the complex caught a few people’s attention by surprise. The Vessel, created by British designer Thomas Heatherwick, seems to have been illuminated for the first time since the 150-foot public sculpture topped-out last year.
