12-Story, 29-Unit Mixed-Use Conversion Planned At 627 Greenwich Street Factory, West Village

Last year, Brack Capital Real Estate acquired the 12-story former factory building at 627 Greenwich Street, in the West Village, for $105 million, and now the developer is converting the building into 29 condominiums. The latest plans, filed this past summer, have the building measuring 117,594 square feet, which includes 9,257 square feet of retail space on the ground floor for three commercial units. The 29 condos will average 3,735 square feet apiece, and Issac & Stern Architects are designing.


323 6th Avenue

IFC Center Theater Expansion At 363 6th Avenue Revealed, West Village

Two days ago, YIMBY reported that the IFC Center, at 323 6th Avenue in the West Village, would double the size of their theater, from five to 11 screens. The 9,743 square-foot expansion will fill the vacant lot behind the existing theater, and now Indiewire has renderings of the Cornelia Street façade. Talks are underway with various community and city officials, and approval by the Community Board and the Board of Standards and Appeals is expected by early 2016.



39 Clarkson Street

Six-Story Building At 39 Clarkson Street Seeks Condo Conversion & Expansion, West Village

Property owner Jeff Alexander and developer Summit Equities are planning to convert the six-story manufacturing building at 39 Clarkson Street, in the West Village, into nine condominiums. According to DNAinfo, three more stories will be added up top, and the cellar will be excavated to accommodate four parking spaces. A variance from the city is required for the conversion.


Stonewall Inn Designated An Individual Landmark

The Stonewall Inn, located at 51-53 Christopher Street, has been designated an individual landmark by the Landmarks Preservation Commission. The unanimous vote took place Tuesday shortly before noon and was greeted by a roar of applause. This unusual move gives the bar’s history as part the LGBT rights movement the official city recognition many say it deserves.
