NYCHA Announces Majors Renovations for Frederick E. Samuel Apartments at 141 West 142nd Street in Harlem

NYCHA has revealed its plans to renovate Frederick E. Samuel Apartments, a 42-building affordable housing portfolio in Harlem. The Frederick Samuel Apartments stretch from West 139th Street to West 147th Street, between Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard and Lenox Avenue. The portfolio includes 664 units and houses 1,379 residents, some of whom reside in buildings more than 100 years old.

LPC Approves $130M Renovation of the Historic Harlem River Houses in Manhattan

The Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) unanimously approved a comprehensive renovation of the historic Harlem River Houses surrounding West 151st Street and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard in Upper Manhattan. The scope of work includes major improvements to the existing landscape design and outdoor recreation areas, lighting and security improvements, new retail storefronts, refurbished apartments, and sustainability improvements.

Taystee Lab Building Nears Completion at 450 West 126th Street in Manhattanville, Manhattan

Exterior work is wrapping up on the Taystee Lab Building, an 11-story mixed-use project at 450 West 126th Street in the Manhattanville section of West Harlem. Designed by LEVENBETTS and SLCE and developed by Janus Property Group, the 350,000-square-foot building will yield Class A office space as well as lab facilities and additional space for organizations devoted to life sciences, technology, academic and non-profit programs, retail, and the arts. The complex gets its name from the Taystee Cake Bakery Factory that once stood on the plot. BR+A Consulting Engineers constructed the rectangular reinforced concrete structure and LendLease served as the construction manager for the edifice. 450 West 126th Street is located between Amsterdam Avenue to the west and Morningside Avenue to the east.
