Foster + Partners, Epstein Announced as Architectural Advisors for Port Authority’s Midtown Bus Terminal in Times Square, Manhattan

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has selected Foster + Partners and Epstein to help reimagine Manhattan’s 72-year-old Midtown Bus Terminal in Times Square. The replacement project will create a new terminal for New York City buses, dedicated spaces for intercity buses, staging areas, electric vehicle charging stations, outward-facing retail, and 3.5 acres of public green space.

The Rudin Family Secures $415M Refinancing Package to Renovate 3 Times Square Office Tower in Midtown Manhattan

The Rudin Family has closed on a $415 million refinancing deal to complete a multi million-dollar capital improvement program at 3 Times Square in Midtown, Manhattan. Often referred to as the Thomson Reuters Building, the scope of work includes the creation of a new three-story lobby, touchless entry and elevator systems, upgraded elevator cabs, and a new amenity deck on the 16th floor.

Billboard Removal and Transformation of One Times Square Progresses in Midtown, Manhattan

Renovation work is moving along on One Times Square, a 26-story tower at 1475 Broadway in Times Square and one of the most photographed buildings in all of New York City thanks to its position on the southern end of the Crossroads of The World, and due to its use for the annual New Years Eve ball drop. Designed by S9 Architecture and developed by Jamestown with SLCE Architects as the architect of record, the project will bring a $500 million 21st-century facelift to the 395-foot-tall trapezoidal-shaped structure, incorporating an all-new façade, new LED displays, and an outdoor platform. AECOM Tishman is the general contractor for the project, which is bound by West 42nd Street to the south, Seventh Avenue to the west, West 43rd Street to the north, and the pedestrianized section of Broadway.

Palace Theatre Completes 30-Foot Lift Within TSX Broadway, at 1568 Broadway in Times Square, Manhattan

Construction on TSX Broadway has reached a significant milestone with the completion of the historic Palace Theatre’s lift to its new position 30 feet above street level within the podium of the 47-story Times Square hotel tower. The engineering challenge was overseen by Urban Foundation and Engineering and used a system of 34 hydraulic jacks to hoist the 14-million-pound venue at a speed of about a quarter of an inch per hour over the span of four months. Work will now commence on PBDW Architects‘ restoration of the theater, whose new elevated position will make way for 100,000 square feet of retail space at the base of the structure.
