The Hard Rock Hotel’s glass curtain wall is closing in on the final floors of the 35-story project at 159 West 48th Street in Times Square. Developed by Extell and Hard Rock International, the structure made incredible progress over the past few months, reaching its 442-foot-tall parapet in the blink of an eye. The 291,000-square-foot development will contain 446 guest rooms, two entertainment venues, flexible meeting spaces, round-the-clock dining options, a fitness center, and a rooftop lounge. YIMBY Scopes Views From “VU,” aka 368 Third Avenue, In Kips Bay

Construction on VU, aka 368 Third Avenue, continues to move forward as the new condominium development gets ready to launch sales in the coming months. It is the tallest new residential building in the vicinity at 410-feet-tall and features a 36-story reinforced concrete structure. VU is located in the Manhattan neighborhood of Kips Bay and provides unobstructed views of Midtown, Lower Manhattan, and the East River. The interiors and amenities are designed by Paris Forino and SLCE is the architect. Developed by Minrav Development, the 145,000-square-foot superstructure will yield 100 apartments which will include studios to three-bedrooms. YIMBY recently got to check out the building.

Exterior work is finishing up on the Cove, an 18-story residential building at 43-12 Hunter Street in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Rockrose Development, the project will yield 123 rental apartments designed by Slade Architecture. Thirty-seven, or roughly 30 percent of the units, will be designated for affordable housing.
