A few weeks ago, YIMBY revealed the SBJ-designed 13-story, 199-key hotel planned for 9-03 44th Road, in Long Island City, and now The Court Square Blog reports demolition of the existing single-story warehouse is about to begin, with fencing now rising outside the old structure. No completion date has been formally announced.
Despite the construction boom that includes roughly a dozen towers of fifty floors or more, Long Island City is still relatively lacking in name-brand hotel projects. That is about to change in a big way, and YIMBY can now reveal the first renderings of the new Dream Hotel coming to 9-03 44th Road, just a block in from the East River waterfront. The project’s permit filings appeared this past December.
Applications have been filed for an eight-story, 100-key hotel — the rooms split between roughly 66,000 square feet — at 456 Greenwich Street, in Tribeca. Western Heritable Investment Company, Caspi Development and Barone Management are the developers, and the entire building will span 102,000 square feet, with the SBJ Group designing.
