Journal Squared’s Second Phase and Tallest Tower Now Rising in Jersey City

Whether driving out from the Holland Tunnel, or taking I-78 East or Route 9 into Jersey City, the sight of Journal Squared, designed by HWKN/Hollwich Kushner and Handel Architects and developed by Kushner Real Estate Development, is hard to miss from the highways. Perched on the high hills above the PATH train station to the west of the downtown district, the views and sights of both Jersey City and Manhattan are unbeatable from the top floors. For the past couple of months, work has significantly geared up on the second phase of the complex, which will imminently yield a 72-story residential tower standing 759 feet.

Marin Architects-Designed Mixed-Use Expansion Revealed at 2050 Amsterdam Avenue in Washington Heights

Marin Architects has revealed potential plans to expand and convert a century-old commercial building located in a buzzing corner of Washington Heights, Manhattan. Formerly known as the Jumel Building, the structure was originally completed in 1911 by famed American entrepreneur Frank W. Woolworth.

Permits have been filed for a four-story residential building at 7 Terrace View Avenue in Marble Hill, Manhattan. Marble Hill is the northernmost region of Manhattan, and is the only portion of the borough that isn’t on an island. While it had been connected to the main island of Manhattan before, the US Army cut it off of the city for a canal to expedite shipping in the late 19th Century, and it was later connected to the Bronx in 1914 by filling in the old river. James Kwon will be responsible for developing a structure along the northern edge of the neighborhood, near where the old river used to be.

Domino Redevelopment’s 42-Story 260 Kent Avenue Gets First Glass & Molecular-Inspired Facade

Glass is starting to rise at 260 Kent Avenue, and there’s something strangely pleasing about the new façade. The clean pre-cast concrete panels are shockingly white, and have deeply set back windows. The molecular pattern and forms of sugar crystals inspired the unusual design, as an homage to the Domino Sugar Factory that used to dominate the Williamsburg waterfront.

New Residential Buildings Revealed at 312-314 Keap Street in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Excavation has kicked off on two neighboring residential structures at 312-314 Keap Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and today YIMBY has an exclusive first look at renderings for the projects. The new buildings will each top-out at four stories, and will together comprise approximately 12,000 gross square feet.

Permits have been filed for a seven-story residential building at 3508 Tryon Avenue in Norwoodn, The Bronx. The site is six blocks away from Harlem Metro North’s Williamsbridge train station. Nine blocks away is the Woodlawn train station, end of the line for the 4 trains, and ten blocks away is the 205th street subway station, end of the line for the D train. Peter Persaud is listed as responsible for the development.

A new four-story residential building is coming to the intersection of Boerum Street and Bushwick Place at 217 Boerum Street, in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Mordechai Schwimmer is the developer, and the site is currently a fenced-off open space.

Facade Work Wraps For Waterline Square On The Upper West Side

Waterline Square’s trio of towers are finally looking like their renderings. Aside from the construction hoist and a few odd windows, each building has its façade fully installed from the ground up. Once complete, the nearly 1,200-unit project will span five acres, and is being marketed as an effective mini-neighborhood enclave within the Upper West Side, with its own open park and retail market. GID Development Group is responsible for the project.

111 Murray Street’s Exterior Lift Comes Down, Ground Level Retail Base Finishes Up

Since YIMBY last checked on Tribeca‘s 111 Murray Street, the exterior mechanical elevator has started to come down, while the ground level retail base and exterior finishes are also wrapping up. The building is officially complete, and ready for immediate occupancy.
