Gabellini Sheppard Associates has proposed an extensive redesign of existing lighting fixtures in an effort to improve the illumination of distinguished artworks throughout Rockefeller Center. The scope of work covers nearly every building and their respective façades between West 48th Street and West 51st Street, spanning Sixth Avenue, Rockefeller Plaza, and Fifth Avenue.
Construction is nearing completion on the Pendry Manhattan West Hotel, a 281-foot-tall hotel at Four Manhattan West in Midtown West. Designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and developed by Brookfield Properties, the 21-story building is just one of five buildings in the Manhattan West master plan, which sits directly across Tenth Avenue from Hudson Yards. The Pendry Manhattan West Hotel will provide a total of 164 guest rooms and a selection of condominiums on the upper levels.
Exterior work is progressing on The West, a 12-story residential building at 547 West 47th Street in Hell’s Kitchen. Located between West 47th Street and West 48th Street, the 201,000-square-foot project is designed by Concrete and developed by Ironstate Development, CB Developers, and SK Development Group, which purchased the property for $93 million in the summer of 2018. The developers are aiming for LEED certification.
Permits have been filed for a seven-story residential building at 5278 Post Road in Fieldston, The Bronx. Located between Lakeview Place and West 253rd Street, the interior lot is closest to the 242nd Street subway station, serviced by the 1 train. Exterior work is moving along at Eleven Hancock, a 12-story residential building at 362 West 125th Street in Harlem. The 130,000-square-foot project is designed by Isaac & Stern Architects and developed by Nortco Development, which purchased the plot and 27,500 square feet of development rights for $28.5 million four years ago. Lemay + Escobar is responsible for the interior design and the Krantz + Krantz Team of Halstead Development Marketing is handling sales for the 71 units, which will consist of studio, one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom layouts.
