Exterior work is nearing completion on Lantern House, a pair of residential buildings straddling the High Line at 515 West 18th Street in Chelsea. Developed by Related Companies and designed by Thomas Heatherwick with SLCE Architects as the architect of record, the ten- and 21-story structures yield a total of 181 residential units with sales and marketing led by Related Sales LLC and Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group. Lantern House is bound by Tenth Avenue the east, West 18th Street to the south, West 19th Street to the north, and Frank Gehry’s IAC Building immediately to the west.

Exterior work is continuing to shape up on The Cortland, a 26-story condominium building at 555 West 22nd Street in West Chelsea. Designed by Robert A. M. Stern Architects and developed by Related Companies with SLCE Architects as the architect of record, the nearly 300-foot-tall, 250,000-square-foot project will yield 141 units, averaging around 2,245 square feet apiece. The building is located along West Street and the Hudson River waterfront between West 22nd and West 23rd Streets.

New renderings from Handel Architects reveal The Set, a 587-foot-tall residential skyscraper under construction at 451 Tenth Avenue in Hudson Yards. Developed by Related Companies, the 45-story structure is rising from a 17,280-square-foot L-shaped lot at the corner of Tenth Avenue and West 35th Street, directly to the north of Bjarke Ingels‘ 66 Hudson Boulevard, aka The Spiral. Though it’s unclear which final form the building will take in terms of color palette, the renderings are likely a good indication of what’s to come for the reinforced concrete edifice that’s already several floors above street level.

50 Hudson Yards’ Concrete Core Reaches 1,011-Foot-Tall Pinnacle, in Hudson Yards

Construction of the concrete core appears to have topped out at 50 Hudson Yards, a 1,011-foot-tall commercial supertall in Hudson Yards and number eight on our countdown of the tallest buildings in progress in the New York metropolitan area. Designed by Norman Foster of Foster + Partners and developed by Related Companies with Oxford Properties, the 58-story skyscraper will yield 2.9 million square feet of office space, making it the largest building by volume in the first phase of the Hudson Yards master plan.
