Ground Breaking Imminent For Six-Story, 93-Unit Residential Project At 440 Whiton Street, Jersey City

The six-story, 93-unit residential project planned at 440-446 Whiton Street, located on the corner of Ash Street in the Bergen-Lafayette section of Jersey City, has been granted a 20-year tax abatement, Jersey Digs reported. The project was approved by the Jersey City Planning Board earlier this year. Construction is expected to begin later this year, with completion scheduled in early 2018. It’s unclear if the apartments will be rentals or condominiums, although a 74-car parking garage is included. Ash Urban Redevelopment is developing, though the vacant site’s architect and design have not yet been revealed.


25 Columbus Drive

750-Unit Mixed-Use Tower With School Proposed At 25 Columbus Drive, Jersey City

Joint venture PH Urban Renewal, comprised of developers L+M Development Partners and Low-Income Housing Corporation, is proposing to develop a mixed-use tower at 25 Columbus Drive, in the Paulus Hook section of Jersey City. At this point, the project is expected to include up to 750 residential units, of which five percent (37 units) would be designated as affordable, the Jersey Journal reported. The tower’s base would feature a 35,000-square-foot, 200-student privately-funded public school for levels pre-K through first grade.


18 East 21st Street

Construction Imminent on Six-Story, 138-Unit Residential Project at 18 East 21st Street, Bayonne

Construction is close to kicking off on the six-story, 138-unit residential building planned at 18 East 21st Street, on the southern end of Bayonne. That’s in Hudson County, New Jersey. Dubbed 19 East, it will contain luxury rental apartments ranging from studios to two-bedrooms. Amenities will include a fitness center, two rooftop terraces, a business center, and a 212-car parking garage on the bottom two floors. A plaza will be built on the plot’s frontage along Broadway. Ingerman Development Company is the developer. Completion is expected in early 2018, Jersey Digs reported. Much of the seven-parcel assemblage was vacant with the exception of a three-story apartment building, which has since been demolished.


222 Avenue E

Reveal for Six-Story, 70-Unit Residential Building Approved at 222 Avenue E, Bayonne

Renderings have surfaced for the six-story, 70-unit residential building planned at 222 Avenue E, located on the corner of East 21st Street on the southern end of Bayonne, New Jersey. That’s in Hudson County. The residential units, rental apartments, will range from one- to two-bedrooms, some of which will be duplexes. Amenities include the traditional list of luxuries, like a rooftop terrace, a fitness center, a community lounge, and a 72-car parking garage. Passaic, N.J.-based Madison Hill Properties is the developer. The project was approved by city’s Planning Board this past summer and was also granted a 25-year tax abatement, Jersey Digs reported. Completion is expected in 2018. The vacant site is located across the street from the 22nd Street station on the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail.


73 Clay Street

Reveal for Five-Story, 84-Unit Mixed-Use Building Planned at 73 Clay Street, Newark

A rendering has been revealed of the five-story, 84-unit mixed-use building planned at 73-87 Clay Street, located on the corner of Spring Street in the Lower Broadway section of Newark, New Jersey. Dubbed Spring Street Commons, it will host 7,500 square feet of commercial-retail space on the ground floor, in addition to a 21-car parking garage, Jersey Digs reported. It’s not known if the apartments will be condominiums or rentals, but the latter is more likely. The site is currently occupied by two low-rise industrial properties, both of which must first be demolished. Newark-based Paris Real Estate Inc. is the developer. The project was approved by the city’s Central Planning Board back in June of 2015.
