540 Hudson Street Rises Above Street Level in Greenwich Village, Manhattan

Construction on 540 Hudson Street is progressing as the seven-story, 63-foot-tall reinforced concrete superstructure begins to climb above the sidewalk scaffolding. William Gottlieb Real Estate is the developer and Titanium Construction Services is the general contractor of the Greenwich Village property, which is located at the corner of Hudson and Charles Streets. The residential and retail building is rising on what was once a vacant lot and before that a gas station and garage. The Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) approved the updated plans last December and BKSK Architects is adopting the original design that was first envisioned by Morris Adjmi Architects. The final result will be a 48,535-square-foot building with 6,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor and cellar, and a total of 26 apartments.

Permits have been filed for a 17-story mixed-use building at 638 West 158th Street in Washington Heights, Manhattan. Located between Riverside Drive East and Riverside Drive West, the lot is two blocks from the 157th Street subway station, serviced by the 1 train. Javier Martinez of Artifact Real Estate Development Company is listed as the owner behind the applications.

Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by Ekstein Development and Pinnacle Real Estate, the 479-foot-tall structure will yield 70,000 square feet and 42 units marketed by Reuveni Real Estate. The homes average 1,700 square feet and range in price from $1.65 million to upward of $12 million. 30 East 31st Street is located between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue South.

FÖRENA’s Brick Façade Begins to Emerge at 540 Sixth Avenue in Chelsea, Manhattan

Scaffolding has begun to come down from FÖRENA, revealing the brick façade of the 12-story residential building at 540 Sixth Avenue in Chelsea. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by Landsea Homes and DNA Development, the 80,000-square-foot building will yield 50 units in one- to three-bedroom layouts marketed by Fredrik Eklund and John Gomes of The Eklund Gomes Team at Douglas Elliman. Ryder Construction Co. is the general contractor for the project, which is located at the corner of West 14th Street and Sixth Avenue.

Façade work is nearing completion on 550 Clinton Avenue, as the tower crane has been removed from the eastern elevation of the 29-story mixed-use tower in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by Hope Street Capital, the 280,000-square-foot project will yield 284 apartments and about 60,000 square feet of retail area. The structure rises from a four-story podium bound by Atlantic Avenue to the south, Clinton Avenue to the east, and Vanderbilt Avenue to the west.

Front & York’s Exterior Nears Completion at 85 Jay Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn

Exterior work is closing in on completion on Front & York, a 1.1-million-square-foot residential development at 85 Jay Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by CIM Group and LIVWRK, the full-block project consists of a pair of 21-story buildings that rise from a multi-level podium. The property will yield a total of 728 apartments with prices for the 408 condominiums starting around $950,000.
