3 Hudson Boulevard May Become Hudson Yards’ Tallest Tower

Hudson Yards has been making headlines in recent months thanks to the substantial progress of Related’s development over and surrounding the Eastern Railyards, which is now yielding a forest of skyscrapers. But immediately to the northwest, another tower that’s been in the making for an equally long period of time may have just received a boost to become the tallest of them all. A new rendering of the Moinian Group’s 3 Hudson Boulevard has surfaced, showing both an updated design for the building itself, as well as the addition of a 300-foot spire, that would make the supertall the tallest in the neighborhood.

Reveal for Moinian Group’s 572 Eleventh Avenue, Designed by CetraRuddy, Midtown West

The most prominent new development in the lower West 40s is obviously of the super-sized variety, with projects like 551 Tenth Avenue and 605 West 42nd Street now dominating the neighborhood. But there are a few smaller lots remaining that will host more modestly-sized buildings, and among those is 572 Eleventh Avenue, which used to house a diner. Now, YIMBY has the reveal for its replacement — which will span from 43rd all the way to 44th Street — designed by CetraRuddy, and under development by the Moinian Group.

Market Diner Being Demolished To Make Way For Apartments At 572 Eleventh Avenue

For decades (with a brief break), Manhattan had a diner, complete with outdoor seating and a tiny parking lot, near the edge of Midtown West/Hell’s Kitchen. Last year, we learned that the Market Diner at 572 Eleventh Avenue (at the corner of West 43rd Street) would be replaced by an apartment tower. Now, a photo from our friend Tectonic shows that demolition has begun.
