Reveal for 24-Story, 62-Unit Mixed-Use Building Planned at 1050 Sixth Avenue, Midtown

A rendering has been revealed of the planned 24-story, 62-unit mixed-use building under development at 1050 Sixth Avenue, located between West 39th and 40th streets, just below Bryant Park in Midtown. The reveal comes as Skyline Developers held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project earlier this week, as reported by Real Estate Weekly. The new building will encompass 62,886 square feet. It will feature 2,710 square feet of retail space on the ground floor, and its residential units, which will be rental apartments, should average 841 square feet apiece. Amenities include storage for 32 bikes, private residential storage, laundry facilities, a fitness center, and a tenant lounge. The building’s top unit will also include a private rooftop terrace, with a number of other units boasting balconies. SoHo-based Gene Kaufman is the architect of record. 42-14 Crescent Street

Construction Wrapping on 13-Story, 48-Unit Mixed-Use Building at 42-14 Crescent Street, Long Island City

Construction is wrapping up on the 13-story, 48-unit residential building under development at 42-14 Crescent Street, in the Court Square/Queens Plaza section of Long Island City. The structure’s exterior and façade elements have now been installed, as seen in a photo posted to the YIMBY Forums by JC_Heights. The building measures 44,061 square feet and its residential units, which will be rental apartments, should average 816 square feet apiece. It will also contain 740 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Amenities include private residential storage units, storage for 23 bikes, laundry facilities, a fitness center, indoor and outdoor recreational areas on the ground floor, and a rooftop deck. Meadow Partners is the developer, while John Fotiadis Architect is behind the design. It was only in February that the project topped out. Occupancy is likely within the next few months.


200 East 59th Street

Foundation Work Underway for 35-Story, 67-Unit Mixed-Use Tower at 200 East 59th Street, Midtown East

YIMBY can now bring you news that foundation work is underway at 200 East 59th Street, at the corner of Third Avenue on the northern edge of Midtown East, courtesy of photos posted to the YIMBY Forums by Vertical_Gotham. It’s the site of a 35-story, 67-unit mixed-use building being developed by Macklowe Properties, which YIMBY recently revealed a full rendering for last week. As reported earlier, the 490-foot-tall tower will measure 109,581 square feet, of which 14,861 square feet will be utilized for retail space on the cellar through second floors. The apartments above, which will be condominiums, should average 1,490 square feet apiece. Amenities include storage for 36 bikes, a lounge, a terrace on the third floor, and a fitness center. CetraRuddy is behind the architecture. Completion is expected in late 2017.


100 Norfolk Street

Cantilever Takes Shape for 12-Story, 38-Unit Mixed-Use Building at 100 Norfolk Street, Lower East Side

Construction is now ongoing on the eighth-floor cantilever of the 12-story, 38-unit mixed-use building under construction at 100 Norfolk Street, on the Lower East Side. Steel beam construction can be seen in photographs via a Bowery Boogie update. The structure will eventually measure 53,949 square feet, with 11,244 square feet designated as commercial-retail space on parts of the ground through third floors. The residential units, ranging from studios all the way up to a five-bedroom penthouse, will be condominiums and should average 1,124 square feet apiece. Amenities include a fitness center, a yoga room, a common rooftop deck, a garden lounge, private residential storage, and bike storage. Adam America Real Estate, the Naveh Shuster Group, and the Horizon Group are the developers, while ODA New York is behind the architecture. The structure has grown four stories since YIMBY’s last update in December 2015. Completion is expected before 2017.


The Muse at Grant Avenue

Work Begins on Five-Story, 90-Unit Mixed-Use Development at 662 South 2nd Street, Plainfield, New Jersey

Excavation work is now underway for a mixed-use project on the long-vacant 4.97-acre brownfield site at 662-758 South 2nd Street, in the North Jersey city of Plainfield. That’s in Union County. Under development is a five-story, 90-unit residential building, dubbed The Muse at Grant Avenue, and a single-story, 44,000-square-foot commercial building that will be leased to ABC Supply Company, according to NJBIZ. The units will range from one- to three-bedrooms, and below-market rate units are also included. Amenities include a parking garage, a fitness center, and a community room. The commercial building will serve as a distribution facility, featuring a staging area and 4,000 square feet of accessory office space. J.G. Petrucci Co. Inc. and TD + Partners are the developers. Completion on ABC Supply’s facility is expected later this year, while occupancy of the residential building is scheduled in 2018. The project is the city’s largest mixed-use development in 40 years. The site is located one mile south of NJ Transit’s Plainfield station.
