Construction Progresses on 430 West Broadway in Soho, Manhattan

Construction is progressing on 430 West Broadway, a seven-story commercial building in the Soho Cast Iron District. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by New Soho Associates, the project was approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission in early 2019 and will yield office space sitting atop ground-floor retail and community facility space. Abeco Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Prince and Spring Streets.

Mayor Eric Adams Announces Development Plan to Create 4,000 New Apartments in Central Brooklyn

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has announced a multi-phase initiative to create up to 4,000 new apartments in Central Brooklyn. Known as the Atlantic Avenue Mixed-Use Plan, projections also anticipate the creation of more than 1,500 income-restricted homes centered on a 13-block stretch of Atlantic Avenue.

New construction permits have been filed for a 16-story mixed-use building at 1010 Washington Avenue in Morrisania, The Bronx. Located between East 164th Street and Weiher Court, the lot is near the Intervale Street subway station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. Alab Waintraub under the 1049 Claremont Village LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.

661 Driggs Avenue Nears Completion in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Construction is finishing up on 661 Driggs Avenue, a six-story mixed-use building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by Bogue Trondowski Architect, the 15,910-square-foot structure will yield ten units spread across 11,720 square feet and 5,000 square feet of retail space for two tenants on the ground floor and cellar level. Brooklyn Rose LLC is the general contractor for the property, which is located by the intersection of Driggs and Metropolitan Avenues.

Construction Tops Out at 651 Fourth Avenue in South Slope, Brooklyn

Construction is now topped out at 651 Fourth Avenue, an 11-story mixed-use building in South Slope, Brooklyn. Designed by INOA Architecture for New Leaf Development, the building’s cellar and ground floors will contain a small retail volume with 26 apartments and amenity spaces above.

Gemma Gramercy Finishes Construction at 202 East 23rd Street in Gramercy Park, Manhattan

Construction is complete on Gemma Gramercy, a 20-story residential building at 202 East 23rd Street in Gramercy Park, Manhattan. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by SMA Equities, the 233-foot-tall, 95,000-square-foot structure is engineered to Passive House standards and yields 108 rental apartments in studio to two-bedroom layouts, with 28 designated for affordable housing, as well as ground-floor retail space. KSK Construction Group served as the general contractor and REAL New York is leading marketing and sales for the project, which is located at the corner of East 23rd Street and Third Avenue on the border with Kips Bay.

Exterior Work Nears Completion on 312 West 43rd Street in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan

Façade installation is nearing completion on 312 West 43rd Street, a 33-story residential building on the southern border of Hell’s Kitchen in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by National Real Estate Advisors and Taconic Partners, the 401-foot-tall structure will yield 330 rental units, 28,000 square feet of amenities, and two floors of retail space. DeSimone Consulting Engineers is the structural engineer and Triton Construction is the general contractor for the project, which is located between Eighth and Ninth Avenues, directly north of the Port Authority Bus Terminal and its subway station, servicing the A, C, and E trains.

LPC Approves Alterations for The Waldorf Astoria Grand Ballroom in Midtown East, Manhattan

The Landmarks Preservation Commission has unanimously approved additional alterations to The Waldorf Astoria‘s grand ballroom, the latest phase of the historic hotel’s years-long residential conversion. Led by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) for Dajia US, the building’s current owner, the project will help restore the ballroom to its heralded Art Deco conditions that have since been designated a New York City landmark.

Foundation Work Resumes at 38 West 8th Street in Greenwich Village, Manhattan

Construction has resumed at 38 West 8th Street, the site of a seven-story mixed-use building in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. Designed by Morris Adjmii Architects and developed by Straus Group under the Clinton Eight Realty, LLC, the structure is planned to yield condominium units, a community facility, and commercial space with 104 feet of frontage. The scope also includes repairs to the adjacent structure at 177 MacDougal Street. Empire State Contractors is the general contractor for the 4,775-square-foot property, which is situated at the corner of West 8th and MacDougal Streets.

Developer Secures $193M to Complete Pathside Tower at 499 Summit Avenue in Jersey City, New Jersey

Panepinto Properties has closed on a $193 million construction loan to complete Pathside, a 605-unit rental tower in Jersey City. Located at 499 Summit Avenue in the city’s Journal Square neighborhood, the building is designed by HLW International and will top out at 53 stories or about 566 feet.
