Foundations Underway for Three-Tower Development at 2-20 and 2-21 Malt Drive in Hunters Point, Queens

Excavation and foundation work are progressing at 2-20 and 2-21 Malt Drive, the site of a three-tower mixed-use complex in the Hunters Point South master plan in Hunters Point, Queens. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by TF Cornerstone, the project consists of a 34-story, 390-foot-tall structure yielding 575 units at 2-20 Malt Drive and a two-tower development at 2-21 Malt Dive with a 38-story, 440-foot-tall high-rise and 25-story, 310-foot-tall sibling. The unit count for 2-21 Malt Drive has not been disclosed. Bud North LLC and Bud South LLC are the contractors for 2-21 and 2-20 Malt Creek, respectively, which will rise from a subdivided plot bound by 54th Avenue to the north, Newton Creek to the south, and 2nd Street to the west.

Construction Rises on Domino Sugar Refinery Redevelopment at 292 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Construction is rising on the The Refinery, a commercial conversion and expansion of the 140-year-old Domino Sugar Refinery at 292 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by Practice for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU) and developed by Two Trees, the $250 million project will convert the former manufacturing plant into a modern office complex while preserving the structure’s historic brick façade, arched windows, and chimney. The Refinery will stand 235 feet tall and feature a new 27,000-square-foot barrel-vaulted glass dome for a penthouse office space, as well as fully rebuilt interiors by Dencityworks and Bonetti/Kozerski, new landscaping and outdoor seating surrounding the ground floor, and reworked Domino Sugar signage above the roofline. The development is the centerpiece of the Domino Sugar master plan by SHoP Architects and James Corner Field Operations and is located to the west of Kent Avenue between South 2nd and South 3rd Streets.

50 Commercial Street Set for Excavation in Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Excavation is set to begin at 50 Commercial Street, a nine-story mixed-use building in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Designed by T.F. Cusanelli and Filletti Architects and developed by Rimani Realty, the 108-foot-tall structure will yield 32,642 square feet with 27 residential units spread across 20,213 square feet, as well as 2,681 square feet of commercial area, enclosed parking space for three vehicles, and a restaurant space on the ground floor. All State 12 is the general contractor for the property, which is located on a triangular plot at the intersection of Commercial and Clay Streets.

Designed by PKSB Architects and developed by 171 Calyer Street Project, LLC, the 70,071-square-foot structure will yield 33 units and 5,615 square feet of ground-floor retail space. MJM Associates Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the intersection of Calyer and Lorimer Streets.
