Work is wrapping up on 140 West 28th Street, a 46-story dual-brand Marriott Hotel tower in Chelsea. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architect and developed by Sam Chang of the McSam Hotel Group, the 470-foot-tall tower will yield 531 guest rooms split between Springhill Suites by Marriott and Townplace Suites by Marriott Properties. Omnibuild is the general contractor for the 173,000-square-foot reinforced concrete edifice, which is located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues in the Flower District.

Hyatt Place Hotel Completes Construction at 140 West 24th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan

Omnibuild has completed construction on The Hyatt Place Hotel, a 45-story tower at 140 West 24th Street in Chelsea. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architects and developed by Sam Chang, the 416-foot-tall structure will yield 510 guest rooms spread over 173,000 square feet, making it one of the largest hotels to open in 2021. The reinforced concrete superstructure rises between Sixth and Seventh Avenues and features a lightweight limestone rainscreen façade. Work broke ground in January 2019 and was developed in partnership with Magna Hospitality Group.

FÖRENA’s Brick Façade Begins to Emerge at 540 Sixth Avenue in Chelsea, Manhattan

Scaffolding has begun to come down from FÖRENA, revealing the brick façade of the 12-story residential building at 540 Sixth Avenue in Chelsea. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by Landsea Homes and DNA Development, the 80,000-square-foot building will yield 50 units in one- to three-bedroom layouts marketed by Fredrik Eklund and John Gomes of The Eklund Gomes Team at Douglas Elliman. Ryder Construction Co. is the general contractor for the project, which is located at the corner of West 14th Street and Sixth Avenue.

1,663-Foot-Tall Tower by David Adjaye Revealed As Part of RFP Submission For 418 11th Avenue, In Hudson Yards

While concrete details remain unconfirmed, the first Request for Proposal (RFP) submission for the site of a future supertall north of Related Companies’ Hudson Yards complex has now been unveiled. The ground-up 1,663-foot-tall building would become one of the tallest towers in New York City by both architectural and roof height, on the site of the former Hudson Spire proposal. Sir David Adjaye of Adjaye Associates is the architect, while developers include Deryl McKissick, The Peebles Corporation, Exact Capital Group, and the Witkoff Group. The envisioned master plan would sit on a 1.2-acre lot, dubbed “Site K,” at 418 11th Avenue, bound by West 35th and West 36th Street, Hudson Boulevard West, and 11th Avenue.

Work is nearing completion on 28&7, a 12-story office building at 322-326 Seventh Avenue in Chelsea. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and developed by Klövern AB and GDSNY, the edifice rises at the corner of Seventh Avenue and West 28th Street and will yield 105,000 square feet of commercial space marketed by CBRE. Triton Construction is the general contractor for the reinforced concrete structure, which is located directly above the 28th Street subway station, servicing the local 1 train. The developers are aiming for LEED Gold and WELL certification.
