In the middle of 2014, Macklowe Properties closed on an assemblage on the corner of 59th Street and Third Avenue for $100 million, acquiring it from SL Green. Now, with the former structures demolished, YIMBY can reveal the first renderings of the site’s future occupant, designed by CetraRuddy, which will stand 35 stories and 490 feet tall.
Back in February, YIMBY reported on the first new building applications for a tower coming to 30 East 31st Street, in Midtown Manhattan. And now, we have the reveal, thanks to a tipster’s submission of an on-site rendering. The project is being designed by Morris Adjmi Architects, while Ekstein Development is the developer.
Two turn-of-the-century apartment buildings at 230 and 232 East 54th Street may bite the dust for a 22-story residential project. New building applications were filed yesterday to erect a 237-foot-tall building at 232 East 54th Street, between Second and Third Avenues in Midtown East.
In the beginning of last spring, YIMBY brought you a construction update on 610 Lexington Avenue/100 East 53rd Street, a planned 63-story, 94-unit residential tower, which at the time, was only two stories above street level. Dezeen now has fresh renderings of the project, which YIMBY can accompany with the latest photos from YIMBY reader ILNY. The bulk of the tower has been constructed, and glass façade is now being installed on the lower levels. RXR Realty is developing with Hines and Foster + Partners is designing, while SLCE Architects is serving as the architect of record. Completion is expected in 2017.
Back in June, Kuafu Properties was in contract to purchase the assemblage spanning 143-161 East 60th Street, on the northern edge of Midtown East, and now the Chinese developer has closed on the acquisition, according to Commercial Observer. The site has a nearly 20,000 square-foot footprint, and roughly 280,000 square feet of development potential. Kuafu plans to build a luxury residential tower with a large retail base, although the existing six low-rise buildings must first be demolished.
