Exterior Work Nears Completion on Gene Kaufman’s 140 West 28th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan

Exterior work is wrapping up on 140 West 28th Street, a 470-foot-tall, 46-story dual-brand Marriott Hotel in Chelsea. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architect for Sam Chang of the McSam Hotel Group, the 173,000-square-foot tower will yield 531 guest rooms across both a TownePlace Suites and Springhill Suites. Omnibuild is in charge of construction at the site, which is located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues.

Façade Work Continues on the Ritz Carlton Hotel at 1185 Broadway in NoMad

Façade work is getting closer to completion on the Ritz Carlton Hotel at 1185 Broadway, a 580-foot-tall skyscraper in NoMad and number 27 on our countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in the city. Designed by Rafael Vinoly and developed by Marriott, Ritz Carlton Hotels, and Flag Luxury Properties, the 40-story tower will yield 150,000 square feet and 250 guest rooms. The project is located at the intersection of Broadway and West 28th Street.

Progress On World’s Tallest Modular Hotel At 842 Sixth Avenue Remains On Hold In NoMad

Construction on 842 Sixth Avenue in NoMad, has been stalled for the past several months and it is unclear as to if and when this planned 100,000-square-foot project will move forward. Designed by Danny Forster & Architecture, the 26-story building will house a 168-room AC NoMad Hotel by Marriott International and is slated to become the world’s tallest modular hotel. Concord Hospitality is the developer of the Midtown project, which sits between West 29th and West 30th Streets. Also part of the design program would be multiple outdoor terraces and a rooftop bar.

Exterior work is progressing on the topped-out Ritz Carlton Hotel at 1185 Broadway in NoMad as the curtain wall approaches the building’s 580-foot-tall pinnacle. Designed by Rafael Vinoly and developed by Marriott, Ritz Carlton Hotels, and Flag Luxury Properties, the 40-story skyscraper will yield 150,000 square feet and 250 guest rooms, which will sit above a multi-story podium rising from the corner of Broadway and West 28th Street.
