50-Story Tower Rises Above Street Level at 43-25 Hunter Street, Long Island City

In December, foundation work began on the 50-story, 974-unit mixed-use building planned at 43-25 Hunter Street, in Long Island City’s Court Square. Rebar and concrete have now reached the second story of the 786,105 square-foot building, which will feature 18,800 square feet of retail, according to The Court Square Blog. Rockrose is developing, and SLCE is the architect. YIMBY revealed renderings in 2014, and completion is scheduled for the middle of 2017.

Commercial Development Site At 11-01 38th Avenue Up For Grabs, Long Island City

Kenjoy Realty is placing two connected single-story warehouse properties at 11-01 38th Avenue and 37-37 11th Street, in northern Long Island City, on the market for $12.5 million. The assemblage is being marketed as a development site, boasting roughly 86,000 square feet of commercial building potential, according to Commercial Observer. The marketing team states that the site is ripe for a hotel development.

Construction Begins On 35-Story Mixed-Use Building At 44-26 Purves Street, Long Island City

Foundation work and piling is underway at 44-26 – 44-28 Purves Street, in Long Island City, where Brause Realty and the Gotham Organization are planning a 35-story, 270-unit mixed-use building. YIMBY revealed renderings in April of the FXFOWLE-designed project, and a 2,600 square-foot retail portion is expected on the ground floor. According to The Court Square Blog, the building is scheduled for completion in October 2017.

Excavation Begins At 42-14 Crescent Street, Site of 13-Story, 48-Unit Building, Long Island City

Last summer, YIMBY revealed renderings of Meadow Partners’ 13-story, 48-unit mixed-use use building planned for 42-14 Crescent Street, in Long Island City, and now The Court Square Blog has noticed excavation underway at the site. Ground-floor retail will measure 750 square feet, and John Fotiadis is designing; signage indicates an expected completion date of August 2016.
