After Slaughtering 40,000 New Jobs, Progressive NIMBYs Are New York City’s Number One Enemy

The story of Amazon’s selection of Long Island City for the company’s second headquarters stoked the hopes and dreams of many New Yorkers living within the Five Boroughs, with the company’s promise to bring up to 40,000 new jobs averaging $100,000 per year to Queens, by 2033. Unfortunately, due to the actions of a few elected Democrats, these hopes and dreams have now been squashed, as Amazon has now pulled out of Long Island City. Despite petitions and basic organizing advocating for the new HQ2, the combined Twitter presence of a rabid horde of regressive leftists led by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez generated sufficient outrage for cancellation.

Permits Filed for 26-79 30th Street in Long Island City, Queens

Located between Astoria Boulevard and Newtown Avenue, the interior lot is less than two blocks from the 30 Avenue subway station, serviced by the N and W trains. Eleni Dalagiorgou, using Dour LLC, is listed as the owner behind the applications.

Permits Filed for 20-Story Tower at 45-31 Davis Street in Long Island City, Queens

Located off Jackson Avenue, the through lot is one block south of the Court Square subway station, serviced by the 7, E, M, R, and G trains. Amit Veeramachaneni of Ascent Development is listed as the owner behind the applications.

Permits have been filed for a seven-story mixed-used building at 30-88 21st Street in Long Island City, Queens. Located between 30th Drive and 31st Avenue, the corner lot is six blocks west of the 30th Avenue subway station, serviced by the N and W trains. Dean Davaros under the Rio Davaroso Property LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.

New Rendering Revealed as Silverback Development Acquires 24-16 Queens Plaza South in Long Island City for $80M

In a surprise announcement, Silverback Development has acquired development rights for a new, 23-story residential project that has already topped-out in Long Island City, Queens. Located at 24-16 Queens Plaza South, the property was previously owned by Greystone Development, who sold the building for approximately $80 million.

Tishman Speyer Achieves Full Occupancy for “The JACX,” at 28-07 Jackson Avenue in Long Island City

YIMBY has word that Tishman Speyer has finalized lease agreements for all 1.2 million square feet of its recently completed office development known as “The JACX,” in Long Island City. While the property has not officially debuted, the building’s list of tenants includes Macy’s, Inc., New York-Presbyterian, Bloomingdale’s, WeWork, and a primary care practice operated by Weill Cornell Medicine.

Facade Begins to Rise for 5 Court Square in Long Island City, Queens

Earlier this year, construction kicked off on a new condominium building at 5 Court Square, in Long Island City. Today, the 11-story project has topped-out, with the glass facade about halfway up the structure.

Long Island City’s Future Tallest Skyscraper, Skyline Tower, Now Rising Above Street Level

Already several floors above street level in the heart of Long Island City, Court Square City View Tower, aka 23-15 44th Drive, is rising steadily towards its 778-foot tall pinnacle above Queens. The building will have 67 floors of residential living, and rise higher than the stepped crown of the Citibank building, aka One Court Square, which will make it the tallest building in all of Queens. CSCVT is currently the 22nd-tallest tower rising in the Five Boroughs overall, and is set to contain nearly one million square feet of space, with 802 units. The project is being designed by Hill West Architects while the developer is United Construction & Development Group.

40,000 New Jobs Projected for Long Island City by 2033 as TF Cornerstone Selected To Develop Amazon’s HQ2

Amazon has officially revealed its plan to develop a second headquarters along the East River banks of Long Island City, Queens. The “HQ2” corporate complex will span multiple lots and structures on Vernon Boulevard, from 44^th Road, all the way to 46^th Avenue.

24-16 Queens Plaza South Gets Ready for its Façade, Long Island City, Queens

The Streamline Moderne-inspired tower rising at 24-16 Queens Plaza South is not the tallest building in the burgeoning blocks of Long Island City, but it may be one of the most interesting at the moment. While most others resemble the traditional contemporary glass box, the rolling terraces along the western edge of this warehouse expansion give it a unique identity. Woods Bagot Architects are responsible for the design.The 23-story building will yield over 100,000 square feet, creating a total of 117 residencies. Future tenants will have access to a range of amenities, including an open-air rooftop deck, a pool, an exercise center, and co-working spaces. More amenities will be announced upon completion.
