LPC Approves Five-Story, Single-Family Mega-Mansion at 11 Hubert Street, TriBeCa

A five-story, single-family mega-mansion project at 11 Hubert Street, in TriBeCa, technically an expansion and redevelopment of an existing three-story mixed-use structure, has received approval from the Landmarks Preservation Commission, Curbed NY reported. The project’s design, which has seen minor changes since a previous proposal from January, is the work of Maya Lin Studio and Bialosky + Partners Architects. The latest filings with the Buildings Department detail a 55,080-square-foot mansion fit with five bedrooms, a private pool in the cellar, a landscaped courtyard, and a 5,000-square-foot fitness center. The family behind the project has not yet been disclosed, nor has a construction timeline. The site sits within the TriBeCa West Historic District, which is why approval from the LPC was required.

New Look at Revived Fulton Market Building, South Street Seaport

The Howard Hughes Corporation’s effort to revive the South Street Seaport is getting closer to reality. On Tuesday, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved revised plans for the exterior of the Fulton Market Building. That’s located at 11 Fulton Street, which occupies the block bound by Fulton, South, Beekman, and Front streets, in the South Street Seaport Historic District.

Landmarks Tables Decision on Apartment Building at 11-19 Jane Street, West Village

In February, YIMBY reported on developer Edward Minskoff’s plans for a new condominium building at 11-19 Jane Street, where a two-story garage building now sits. The site is between Greenwich Avenue and West 4th Street/Eighth Avenue in the Greenwich Village Historic District. That means the demolition and new construction both need the approval of the Landmarks Preservation Commission. Though the commission heard the proposal on Tuesday, a decision will have to wait.

On Tuesday, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved demolition of the existing structures at 21 West 17th Street and 16 West 18th Street and the construction of new residential buildings to replace them. The site is between Fifth and Sixth Avenues in the Ladies’ Mile Historic District.
