Nearly eight months ago, an apartment building was proposed as a replacement for a garage building at 11-19 Jane Street, in the West Village. On Tuesday, at its fourth session on the matter and after intense opposition from the public, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved the structure.
Pace University plans to spend $190 million on renovations at One Pace Plaza, its 18-story, 500,000-square-foot mixed-use academic building, and the 13-story academic building at 41 Park Row, both located in the Financial District. The first floor, lower level and courtyard entrance of One Pace Plaza will be redesigned and outfitted with new amenities, Real Estate Weekly reported. At 41 Park Row, which is an individual landmark, the ground and second floors will see renovations and new academic spaces. The entrance to the building will also be restored.
Something unusual occurred on Tuesday: the Landmarks Preservation Commission, after rejecting what one commissioner called a “juicy” expansion of a Crown Heights house two months ago, ended up approving an even larger expansion of the structure.
A vacant lot in the Clinton Hill Historic District is on its way to being filled. On Tuesday, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved a four-story home at 311 Vanderbilt Avenue. It will present as three stories from the front, but other viewing angles will show a set-back fourth floor.
A former garage in the West Village is yet again set to make way for new development. On Tuesday, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved the demolition of the two-story building at 145 Perry Street, a.k.a. 703-711 Washington Street. In its place will be an apartment building and a mega-mansion.
