One Madison Avenue’s Tower Expansion Tops Out in Flatiron District, Manhattan

Construction has topped out on One Madison Avenue, a 27-story commercial building in the Flatiron District. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by SL Green, the National Pension Service of Korea, and Hines, the project involves the gut renovation and expansion of a former eight-story structure and will yield 1.4 million square feet of office space as well as retail space and a slate of amenities. Banker Steel provided the steelwork,  NYC  Constructors is assembling the new expansion, and AECOM Tishman is the construction manager for the property, which occupies a full block at the southeast corner of Madison Square Park.

KPF to Redesign Stalled Office Skyscraper at 3 West 29th Street in NoMad, Manhattan

The final building on YIMBY’s Turkey Week rundown of stalled projects is 3 West 29th Street, a 34-story commercial skyscraper in NoMad. Originally designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by HFZ Capital Group, the structure was planned to rise 551 feet tall and yield 600,000 square feet of office space, but work has failed to progress beyond the early stages of excavation. Pavarini McGovern is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues.

Below-Grade Work Progresses for Kohn Pedersen Fox’s 64 University Place in Greenwich Village, Manhattan

Excavation and foundation work is underway at 64 University Place, the site of an 11-story residential building in Greenwich Village. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Bsafal, the 125-foot-tall, 55,000-square-foot structure will yield 28 condominium units with sales and marketing led by Fredrik Eklund and John Gomes of the The Eklund ǀ Gomes Team at Douglas Elliman Real Estate, as well as a community facility and ground-floor retail space. SPACE Copenhagen is the interior designer, Deborah Nevins is the landscape designer, and CNY Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located between East 10th and East 11th Streets. Ancora Enginerring is the SOE and foundations  engineer and McNamara Salvia is the structural engineer.

Paramount Group’s Modernization Project at 60 Wall Street Remains Uncertain After LPC’s No-Action Ruling

Local preservationists recently celebrated the Landmark Preservation Commission’s decision to take no action on proposals to redesign 60 Wall Street‘s iconic lobby and atrium in the Financial District of Manhattan. Led by Paramount Group, the building’s current owner, the proposed renovation includes replacement of the atrium’s geometric columns, perforated ceilings, palm trees, and terrazzo flooring with a more modern design by international architect Kohn Pederson Fox.
