Beckford House, located at 301 East 81st Street, and Beckford Tower at 301 East 80th Street, are two new developments in the Upper East Side neighborhood of Yorkville. Designed by Studio Sofield and SLCE Architects and developed by Icon Realty Management, both structures are topped out and their exterior brick and stone curtain walls are rising.
A year ago, the New York Post reported that Icon Realty had begun demolishing several tenements on Second Avenue between East 80th and 81st streets. Now, the developer has filed new building applications for a 30-story tower on the corner site, which will be known as 301 East 80th Street.
Icon Realty’s six-story, two-unit residential building under construction at 327 East 9th Street, in the East Village, is now receiving its façade, per EV Grieve, after a long three years of construction. The project topped out earlier this year and measures its full 7,200 square feet. According to the Schedule A, units should measure roughly the same area. Issac & Stern Architects is behind the design.
Last year, YIMBY brought you news of Icon Realty’s planned 14-story, 12-unit mixed-use building at 1562 2nd Avenue, on the Upper East Side, and now the developer is planning another luxury residential and retail building at 1538-1546 2nd Avenue, a block to the south, between 80th and 81st Streets. According to the New York Post, demolition is underway to remove existing tenement buildings. Although applications are not on file for 1538 2nd Avenue, construction is expected to start in early 2016, or around the same time as their project at 1562 2nd Avenue.
