Demolition Making Quick Headway for Google’s Hudson Square Campus, at 550 Washington Street

Partial demolition is in full swing at the site of St. John’s Terminal at 550 Washington Street, as work begins to transform the property into the cornerstone of Google’s new Hudson Square campus. This 1.3-million-square-foot structure will join two other buildings at 315 Hudson Street and 345 Hudson Street as part of Manhattan’s newest Google-plex. COOKFOX Architects is the designer and Oxford Properties is the developer of the 1.7-million-square-foot aggregation.

Scaffolding Covers 137 Varick Street in Preparation for Disney’s Future Headquarters in Hudson Square

A large amount of scaffolding has been set up over the brick and stone walls of 137 Varick Street in Hudson Square in preparation for the building’s demolition. The site is one of several structures that will be cleared to make way for The Walt Disney Company’s new headquarters, which will be addressed Four Hudson Square and reportedly consist of a pair of 19-story buildings. Skidmore Owings & Merrill is the designer of the project and Skanska is in charge of the on-site construction activity.

100 Vandam’s New Residential Tower Tops Out in Hudson Square, Manhattan

Following almost a decade of development, Jeff Greene’s residential conversion of 100 Vandam Street in Hudson Square, Manhattan has officially topped out. Designed by COOKFOX Architects, the 330-foot building artfully repurposes a 131-year-old coal power plant as a partial podium for 19 stories of new construction above.

Permits Filed for SOM-Designed Office Building at 310 Hudson Street in Hudson Square, Manhattan

Permits have been filed for a 19-story office building at 310 Hudson Street in Hudson Square, Manhattan. Located between Spring Street and Vandam Street, the lot is two blocks west of the Spring Street subway station, serviced by the C and E trains. Andrew Arel of Disney Corporate Real Estate is listed as the owner behind the application under the Hudson Square Realty LLC .

Greenwich West’s Brick Curtain Wall Progressing Swiftly at 110 Charlton Street in Hudson Square

Work on the brick curtain wall of Greenwich West, aka 110 Charlton Street, has made tremendous progress since YIMBY last reported about the status of the topped-out Hudson Square project in January. The upcoming 30-story residential building is designed by Loci Anima and Adamson Associates and developed by Strategic Capital, Cape Advisors, and Forum Absolute Capital Partners. Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group is handling sales for Greenwich West’s 170 units.

Google Finalizes Hudson Square Campus Lease at 550 Washington Street

Google is leasing 1.3 million square feet at St. John’s Terminal as part of its Hudson Square campus. This week, the tech company closed the final deal after announcing plans late last year for Google Hudson Square, a $1 billion company campus at 550 Washington Street. The 1.7 million-square-foot campus will also occupy both 345 and 315 Hudson Street by 2020.

S9 Architecture’s 111 Varick Street Tops Out at 27 Stories in Hudson Square

The reinforced concrete structure at 111 Varick Street has topped out in Hudson Square. The 27-story residential project is located at the northern corner of Varick Street and Broome Street, and is designed by S9 Architecture and developed by Madigan Development. The building will contain 100 affordable and market-rate units, as well as ground-floor retail space. CM & Associates is in charge of the construction.

111 Varick Street Rises Past First Setback, in Hudson Square

Work on 111 Varick Street’s reinforced concrete structure is making swift progress in Hudson Square, recently surpassing the first of several setbacks. Located at the northern corner of Varick Street and Broome Street, the future 27-story residential tower received a design update late last year, which can be seen in the featured image above. The rental project is being designed by S9 Architecture and developed by Madigan Development. It will contain 100 affordable and market-rate units, as well as ground-floor retail space. YIMBY Tours COOKFOX’s Conversion and Addition at 100 Vandam Street, in Hudson Square

YIMBY went on a hard hat tour of 100 Vandam Street, where a 131-year-old coal power plant is being converted to a new residential structure that will rise above the existing load-bearing masonry podium. The site is located in the booming Hudson Square neighborhood at the corner of Vandam Street and Greenwich Street. The construction project, which is being designed by COOKFOX and developed by Jeff Greene, will bring the total height of the new 25-story building to 330 feet.
