Renderings Revealed for 480-Unit Affordable Housing Development at 151-165 Broome Street on the Lower East Side

A large consortium of non-profit and private developers has revealed extensive proposals to construct two new affordable housing buildings on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. If the proposals and required zoning amendments are approved, the new structures would break ground at 151-165 Broome Street within an existing mixed-use complex referred to as Seward Park Extension.

Façade Work Nears Completion at 12 East 48th Street in Midtown East

Exterior work is moving along at 12 East 48th Street, a 367-foot-tall Hilton Grand Vacation Hotel in Midtown East. The 125,000-square-foot tower is designed by Handel Architects and developed by Hidrock Realty and will contain 161 guest rooms. Desimone Consulting Engineers is the structural engineer, The Rinaldi Group is the general contractor, and IBA Consulting & Engineering, PLLC is the envelope consultant for the edifice.

Sven’s Concave Curtain Wall Nears the 762-Foot-Tall Parapet in Long Island City, Queens

Curtain wall installation is nearing the parapet of Queens Plaza Park, aka Sven, a 762-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper at 29-37 41st Avenue in Long Island City. Exterior work on the 67-story tower, which is the second-tallest structure in Queens, has been moving swiftly since its topping out in late June. The 978,000-square-foot project is designed by Handel Architects and is being developed by The Durst Organization, with Selldorf Architects as the interior designer. Hunter Roberts is the general contractor and Jaros, Baum & Bolles Engineering is handling the required mechanical systems for the edifice. The developers are aiming for LEED certification.
