Suk Design Group will again appear before the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission to present revised proposals to renovate and expand the rear portion of a private residence in the Greenwich Village Historic District. Located at 267 West 11^th Street, the unique property includes a four-story structure with an additional single-story, enclosed structure in the rear courtyard that dates back to the 1930’s.

Permits Filed for 63 West 14th Street in Greenwich Village, Manhattan

Permits have been filed for a 12-story mixed-use building at 63 West 14th Street in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. Located on the corner lot of 6th Avenue and 14th Street, it is steps away from the 14th Street subway station, serviced by the F and L trains. Thomas Graham of Landsea, under the LS-14 Avenue LLC, is listed as the owner behind the applications.

Morris Adjmi Architects Reveal New Mixed-Use Development Proposed for 38 West 8th Street, in Greenwich Village

Morris Adjmi Architects will soon appear before the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission to propose a new mixed-use development in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. If approved, the existing one-story commercial building at 38 West 8th Street would be replaced by a six-story residential property with ground-floor retail and a small community facility.

LPC to Review Proposals for the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire Memorial, in Greenwich Village

In 1911, the infamous Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire claimed 146 lives, most of whom were young immigrant women. To commemorate the garment workers who perished in the fire, activists from the Remember the Triangle Fire Coalition have revealed proposals to construct a memorial at the site of the disaster.

LPC’s Stranglehold on Greenwich Village Yields LPC-Bound Proposal for Mega-Mansion Conversion at 36-38 West 10th Street

A new proposal to merge and renovate 36 and 38 West 10th Street is set to be reviewed by the LPC today. Located along West 10th street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue in Greenwich Village, the project is composed of two five-story brownstones, each with six units apiece, which will be turned into a single mansion. The revisions are being carried out by John Ike of Ike Kligerman Barkley Architects. The developer of the project is Tom Van Loben Sels.

Boutique Office Building Will Rise at 799 Broadway in Greenwich Village, Manhattan

At the intersection of Broadway and East 11th Street andon the edge of Greenwich Village, a new boutique office will soon rise at 799 Broadway thanks to a $70 million purchase by Columbia Property Trust, according to Crain’s. Columbia received a nearly 50% stake in the sale, and will join co-owner Normandy Real Estate Partners. The current structure today will eventually be demolished to make way for the new glass building that will span around 180,000 square feet, and stand 12 stories tall.

New Rendering Revealed as 809 Broadway Nears Finish Line in Greenwich Village

A new hero shot has been revealed for 809 Broadway, a 15-story mixed-use tower rising in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. Construction has topped out, and façade installation is underway, meaning completion by the end of year is likely. The structure is just a few blocks away from Union Square, the fourth busiest subway station in New York in 2017, serviced by the 4, 5, 6, N, Q, R, W, and L trains. IDM Capital is responsible for the development, which hopes to satisfy the demands of the City’s expanding Silicon Alley.

Exclusive Reveal for ODA’s Tetris-Inspired 101 West 14th Street in Greenwich Village

Permits have already been filed for the construction of a 13-story mixed-use building at the corner of 14th Street and Sixth Avenue in Greenwich Village, and today, YIMBY has the exclusive first look at renderings. ODA Architecture is responsible for the design of 101 West 14th Street / 531 Sixth Avenue, which will feature a deconstructivist façade composed of stacked blocks. The site is right next to the 14th Street and Sixth Avenue subway station entrance, serviced by the 1, 2, 3, F, M, L and Path trains. Union Square is just two blocks away.

Foundation Work Begins for NYU’s Massive Greenwich Village Expansion at 181 Mercer Street

Excavation continues at 181 Mercer Street, the site of New York University’s 1.9 million square-foot expansion in Greenwich Village. The university’s scope of development for the enlarged campus includes razing The Jerome S. Coles Sports Center at 20-40 East Houston Street, and constructing a new 23-story sports center and performing arts facility in its place, which will have an address of 181 Mercer Street.

DXA Studio’s Jordan Rogove Discusses LPC’s Approval of 827-831 Broadway, Union Square

For a third time, DXA Studio approached the Landmark Preservation Commission with a proposed design for 827-831 Broadway, a landmarked building in the Union Square area. The latest design is a large departure from the faceted glass of previous proposals. Several major alterations have occurred to drastically change the entire project to appease the LPC, ultimately leading to approval this past Tuesday.
