Renderings Revealed for Gowanus Green Affordable Housing Complex in Gowanus, Brooklyn

New renderings have been revealed for Gowanus Green, a six-building mixed-use complex in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by Marvel Architects and developed by The Hudson Companies, Jonathan Rose Companies, The Bluestone Organization, and Fifth Avenue Committee, the four-acre master plan will yield 990,000 square feet across six buildings with 950 affordable homes, retail and community space, an 80,000-square-foot public grade school, and a new waterfront esplanade. SCAPE is the landscape architect for the project, which is bound by 5th Street to the northeast, Smith Street to the northwest, the Gowanus Canal to the southeast, and a vacant plot at 459 Smith Street to the southwest.

Designed by Fischer Makooi Architect and developed by Joseph Vogel, the 146-foot-tall structure will yield 66 rental units, a cellar level, 4,309 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, a public outdoor terrace, and a second-floor recreational area. Exterior work is progressing on 204 4th Avenue, a 13-story residential building in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by L+Z Architecture and developed by Avery Hall and Gindi Capital, the 200,000-square-foot structure will yield 193 rental units and 14,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Leeding Builders Group is the general contractor for the project, which is alternately addressed as 653 Union Street and is located on a half-acre rectangular plot bound by Sackett Street to the north and Raul Vasquez Jr. Place to the south.
