In the beginning of last spring, YIMBY brought you a construction update on 610 Lexington Avenue/100 East 53rd Street, a planned 63-story, 94-unit residential tower, which at the time, was only two stories above street level. Dezeen now has fresh renderings of the project, which YIMBY can accompany with the latest photos from YIMBY reader ILNY. The bulk of the tower has been constructed, and glass façade is now being installed on the lower levels. RXR Realty is developing with Hines and Foster + Partners is designing, while SLCE Architects is serving as the architect of record. Completion is expected in 2017.

With formwork about to rise above ground level at Nordstrom Tower, the Smith + Gill-designed supertall’s plans seem to be finalized, pending possible adjustments at the very top. But other renderings for Extell’s site were created by several firms during the RFP process, and we now have images of proposals by Foster + Partners and Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners. While they will remain unbuilt, both versions of the building offer fantastical takes on the future of Midtown in their own right.
Bauhouse Group has acquired 109,000 square feet of additional air rights for their development site spanning 426-432 East 58th Street, in Midtown East, for $37.9 million. The most recently released plans depict a 95-unit Foster + Partners-designed condominium tower, measuring 268,000 square feet and standing over 900 feet tall. The developer is moving forward with an as-of-right project, according to The Real Deal.
L&L Holdings and GreenOak Real Estate have landed a $556 million construction loan for their 47-story, 893-foot-tall office building planned at 425 Park Avenue, in Midtown East. The developers are expanding the existing 32-story building office building to accommodate 670,000 square feet of modern office space. Partial demolition begins this month, and the building is scheduled to open in 2018.
Per The Real Deal, RFR Realty, partnered with Hines, has received $360 million in financing from the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China for the 65-story, 91-unit condominium building at 100 East 53rd Street, in Midtown East. Vanke Holdings and China Cinda Asset Management have also purchased stakes in the project this past March. Foster + Partners is designing, and YIMBY brought you an update on construction in March.
