The Howard Hughes Corporation’s effort to revive the South Street Seaport is getting closer to reality. On Tuesday, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved revised plans for the exterior of the Fulton Market Building. That’s located at 11 Fulton Street, which occupies the block bound by Fulton, South, Beekman, and Front streets, in the South Street Seaport Historic District.
Foundation work is now complete at 125 Greenwich Street, in the Financial District, the site of a planned 88-story, 273-unit mixed-use tower being developed by SHVO (headed by Michael Shvo), New Valley, and Bizzi & Partners Development. The concrete pit is now ready to make way for the tower portion, as seen in a photo by ILNY that was posted to the YIMBY Forums. The exact dimensions of building are not known, as the permits at the Buildings Department have yet to be amended, but we know it will rise 898 feet above street level (per Curbed NY) and will encompass roughly 450,000 square feet. There will be 20,000 square feet of retail space in its base and 16,000 square feet of residential amenities, including multiple terraces throughout the tower. The residential units will also be condominiums, ranging from studios to a triplex penthouse. Rafael Viñoly Architects is behind the design. Earlier this year, the developers were in the process of securing financing through various sources. Completion is expected in 2018.
L+M Development is nearly finished demolishing J&R Music and Computer World’s former flagship at 23-32 Park Row in the Financial District to make way for a 54-story residential tower, and we have the first rendering of the planned skyscraper.
It took over a decade and nearly $4 billion, but the main concourse of the Santiago Calatrava-designed World Trade Center Transportation Hub, known as the Oculus, opened in early March. It’s located along Greenwich Street, in between the nearly topped out 3 World Trade Center and the site of what will be 2 World Trade Center. We now have a new look at its construction, via a time-lapse produced by EarthCam.

Now, we have news about one of the complex’s skyscrapers. 3 World Trade Center, located at 175 Greenwich Street, has reached supertall height.
