50 West Street’s Pedestrian Improvements Nearing Completion

Among the new residential towers in Lower Manhattan, 50 West Street has been one of the longest in the making, with plans for the Helmut Jahn-designed project initially conceived prior to the Great Recession. YIMBY most recently featured renderings of an adjacent pedestrian bridge in August of 2016, as well as an update on the almost-complete tower in February of this year. While the interiors of the skyscraper have since been finished, progress continues on the adjacent ground-level work, including the West Thames Street Pedestrian Bridge and a public plaza, both of which will improve the area’s walkability tremendously.

Excavation Begins for FXFOWLE-Designed 77 Greenwich Street, Financial District

The future site of the FXFOWLE-designed 77 Greenwich Street, a.k.a 42 Trinity Place, has seen substantial progress since YIMBY last checked in on what will eventually become a 40-story and 500-foot tall residential building, back when permits were filed in September of 2016. Demolition of the site’s former occupants is now complete, and excavation is well underway.

Foundation Work Begins, New Rendering for 23 Park Row, Financial District

On the northern edge of the Financial District, construction is making major headway on the site comprising 23 Park Row, which will imminently stand 54 floors and 701 feet to its rooftop. YIMBY reported on permits back in April of 2016, before posting the first renderings last June. The tower, designed by COOKFOX Architects, will become one of the more prominent residential buildings in the neighborhood, and foundation work at the site has now begun.

Excavation Making Headway for Lightstone’s 130 William Street, Financial District

YIMBY has reported extensively on Lightstone’s impending condominium tower coming to 130 William Street, in the heart of the Financial District. Plans have evolved substantially since initial building applications were filed back in March of 2015, and initial plans for a mixed-use building with a substantial hotel component were dropped for the all-condominium version as of early 2017. Demolition of the site’s extant structures has since been completed, and now excavation is making quick headway, as per the latest photos from rbrome.

Work Finally Resumes on 125 Greenwich Street, Financial District

YIMBY recently revealed the latest images for 125 Greenwich Street, which has continued to see minor modifications to its design. Though the tower’s foundation work has been completed for about two years, the site has sat fallow while searching for financing. The refreshed renderings came with recent news that the project secured a $450 million construction loan, and now, with financing secured and the plans for the building finalized, rebar is finally rising.
