Excavation work is underway on the site of a planned 12-story, 110-unit mixed-use building at 79 Avenue D, in the Alphabet City section of the East Village. The developer, L+M Development Partners, has also secured $52.8 million in construction financing. The latest building permits indicate the project will encompass 114,422 square feet and rise 120 feet above street level, not including the bulkhead.
Since topping out early this year, exterior work is now nearing completion on the tower portion of the 13-story, five-unit mixed-use project at 347 Bowery, located on the corner of East 3rd Street in the East Village. A rendering has been revealed of Mount Sinai Health System’s planned 70-bed hospital at 310 East 14th Street, located at the corner of Second Avenue in the East Village. The network is moving forward with the new location, dubbed Mount Sinai Downtown Beth Israel, following the scheduled closure of Mount Sinai Beth Israel, a 825-bed hospital in Gramercy.
Back in April, YIMBY reported that BSD Realty had refiled permits for a new building coming to 243 East 7th Street, between Avenues C and D in the East Village/Alphabet City. Now, we have the reveal for the project, which is being designed by Issac & Stern Architects.
A rendering has been revealed of the 14-story, 50-unit mixed-use building planned at 644 East 14th Street, located on the corner of Avenue C in the East Village. The building will encompass 76,259 square feet and rise 162 feet above street level, Real Estate Weekly reported. There will be 8,064 square feet of retail and 21,575 square feet of community facility space located within the tower’s three-story base. The residential units above should average 677 square feet, which indicates rental apartments. The developer is Opal Holdings, which acquired the site for $23 million over the summer. Karl Fischer’s SoHo-based architecture firm is behind the design. After YIMBY reported on the project’s initial filings when they were submitted in 2014, the site’s former single-story warehouse was demolished in late 2015.
