Construction is nearing completion on 181 Mercer Street, NYU‘s expansion in Greenwich Village. Designed by Davis Brody Bond and KieranTimberlake, the three-tower structure will yield 735,000 square feet and is expected to achieve LEED gold certification. Turner Construction Company is the general contractor for the property, which occupies a full block between Houston, Mercer, and Bleecker Streets and I.M. Pei’s University Village complex. The project is the culmination of more than a decade of planning and underwent numerous design changes before ground broke in 2018.

Construction is nearing completion on Zero Irving, a 21-story mixed-use building at 124 East 14th Street in Union Square. Designed by Davis Brody Bond and developed by RAL Development and Junius Real Estate Partners, the 176,000-square-foot structure will yield affordable and market-rate office space for technology firms as well as a three-floor education and training center, a tech incubator, co-working spaces, and a 10,000-square-foot food hall managed by Urbanspace. Suffolk Construction is the general contractor for the project, which is located along East 14th Street between Broadway to the west and Third Avenue to the east.

Exterior Work Continues on American Natural History Museum’s Expansion on Manhattan’s Upper West Side

Exterior work is continuing to progress on The Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation, a 203,000-square-foot addition to the American Museum of Natural History at 415 Columbus Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang with Davis Brody Bond as the executive architect, Buro Happold as the MEP/FP/ facade consultant, Pentagram designing signage, Arup as the structural engineer, acoustical and audio visual consultants, Tamschick Media + Space with Boris Micka Associates doing the theater design, Renfro Design Group in charge of lighting, and Tishman Construction Company of New York as the general contractor, the amorphous reinforced concrete superstructure is being built by the intersection of Columbus Avenue and West 79th Street. The project is projected to cost around $383 million and the museum is aiming for LEED Gold certification.
