300 Huntington Street Nears Completion in Gowanus, Brooklyn

Work is nearing completion on 300 Huntington Street, a six-story commercial building in GowanusBrooklyn. Designed by Dattner Architects and Bernheimer Architecture and developed and built by Monadnock Development, the 101,000-square-foot structure will yield 80,000 square feet of office space, 12,290 square feet of retail space, a 3,470-square-foot industrial workshop, 5,780 square feet of unspecified building service area, and a 15,490-square-foot rear yard dedicated to the anchor tenant. The property is bound by Huntington Street to the north, 9th Street to the south, the Gowanus Canal to the east, and Smith Street to the east.

Excavation Progresses at 380 4th Avenue in Gowanus, Brooklyn

Excavation is continuing at 380 4th Avenue, the site of a 17-story residential building in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by GF55 Architects and developed by Quinlan Development Group LLC, the 175-foot-tall structure will span 211,650 square feet and yield 197 rental units with an average scope of 830 square feet, as well as 6,030 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, a cellar level, a 40-foot-long rear yard, and 30 enclosed parking spaces. Fifty of the units will be designated as affordable housing. McGowan Builders Inc. is the general contractor for the $78 million project, which is located between 3rd and 6th Streets.

Pace University’s Campus Expansion Opens at 15 Beekman Street in Financial District, Manhattan

Construction is complete on 15 Beekman Street, a 27-story campus expansion for Pace University in the Financial District. Designed by Manish Chadha of Ismael Leyva Architects and developed by SL Green Realty, the 338-foot-tall tower yields 213,084 square feet for classrooms, administrative and faculty offices, common spaces, suite-style dorm rooms, a dining facility, a library and learning center, and the three-floor Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems. New Line Structures & Development was the general contractor for the project, which is alternately addressed as 126-132 Nassau Street and located at the corner of Beekman and Nassau Streets.

One Madison Avenue Nears Completion in Flatiron District, Manhattan

Façade installation is nearing completion on One Madison Avenue, a 27-story commercial building in the Flatiron District. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by SL Green, the National Pension Service of Korea, and Hines, the project involves the gut renovation of an existing eight-story structure and the construction of a 19-story glass-clad addition above its roof parapet, and will yield 1.4 million square feet of office space and ground-floor retail. NYC Constructors is building the expansion and AECOM Tishman is the construction manager for the property, which occupies a full city block at the southeast corner of Madison Square Park between Madison Avenue, Park Avenue South, East 23rd Street, and East 24th Street.

SOM’s NYC Public Health Laboratory Building Tops Out at 40 West 137th Street in Harlem, Manhattan

Construction has topped out at 40 West 137th Street, site of the new NYC Public Health Laboratory building in Harlem. The facility broke ground in 2022 and will create new facilities for specialized medical training, a 200-seat community auditorium, and the walk-in Harlem Express STI screening facility.

Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the ten-story building comprises roughly 240,000 square feet and is expected to achieve LEED Silver certification. Renderings of the property illustrate a stepped glass volume that slowly cantilevers out above a masonry-clad podium. A void between the two will include an outdoor podium with seating and planters.
