The black netting and construction scaffolding are coming down at 1 Great Jones Alley, aka 688 Broadway, in NoHo. The main Broadway elevation is now mostly exposed to the daylight, showcasing the dynamic pattern of terra cotta fins that cover the windows and brick envelope. The 12-story, 154-foot-tall residential building is designed by BKSK Architects and developed by Madison Realty Capital, with HMWhite as the landscape architect. The building will contain 16 units, averaging 2,930 square feet apiece.

Construction at 555 West 22nd Street has reached street level in Chelsea. Designed by Robert A. M. Stern Architects and developed by Related Companies, the 26-story condominium project is located at 11th Avenue between 22nd and 23rd Streets, not far from Chelsea Piers and the High Line. The first stages of excavation are underway at the site of Gene Kaufman Architect‘s future commercial office building at 76 Eighth Avenue. Sang Lee is the developer of the 120-foot-tall structure, which is located on the border of the Meatpacking District and the West Village at the busy corner of Eighth Avenue and West 14th Street. The development will contain 30,000 square feet of office space in addition to ground-floor retail area.

430 East 58th Street Rises Past Cantilever On Way to 800′ Parapet, in Midtown East

The yellow safety cocoon has been installed around the perimeter of the floor plates at 430 East 58th Street, aka 3 Sutton Place, as construction of the 800-foot-tall skyscraper rises above Midtown East. Located between Sutton Place South and First Avenue, the formwork has surpassed the parapets of the adjacent buildings and is cantilevered out over the structure’s eastern neighbor. The project is being designed by Thomas Juul-Hansen and developed by Gamma Real Estate. Stephen B. Jacobs Group is the executive architect on the project.

Construction at 232 East 54th Street has topped out. The structure stands 420 feet tall above Midtown East and is being designed by Ismael Leyva Architects. YIMBY last reported that Elk Investors was listed as the exclusive developer of the building, but ownership may have fully transferred to Mossanen Group and an LLC known as East 54th St. Properties. The tower was originally slated to only rise around 20 stories, but this scope was doubled to 40.
