547 West 47th Street, aka The West, Tops Out In Hell’s Kitchen

Construction has topped out at The West, a full-block residential development at 547 West 47th Street in Hell’s Kitchen. Designed by Concrete and developed by Ironstate Development, CB Developers, and SK Development Group, the 12-story structure spans 30,000 square feet. The rectangular lot, which is located between West 47th Street and West 48th Street, was purchased for $93 million in the summer of 2018. Concrete also did the interior design.

YIMBY Checks in on Rolex Headquarters at 665 Fifth Avenue in Midtown

YIMBY checked in on 665 Fifth Avenue, the site of a forthcoming David Chipperfield Architects-designed headquarters for Rolex. The Midtown lot sits at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and East 53rd Street and is currently occupied by a 12-story structure that was built in the 1970s. This International Style building will be torn down to make way for the new 25-story edifice, which will feature a contemporary design of irregularly stacked boxes clad in glass.

Excavation Continues for Bjarke Ingels’ Strata Tower at 3 West 29th Street in NoMad

Excavation and pilings are progressing for Strata Tower, Bjarke Ingels Group‘s 34-story commercial office skyscraper at 3 West 29th Street in NoMad. Formerly known as 29th & 5th, the project is being developed by HFZ Capital Group and is slated to top out at 551 feet, making it one of the tallest structures in Midtown below the Empire State Building. Pavarini McGovern, LLC is the general contractor for the nearly 300,000-square-foot development.

Pendry Manhattan West Hotel’s Wavy Curtain Wall Complete in Midtown West

The wavy glass curtain wall is now fully installed on the northern and southern elevations of the 281-foot-tall Pendry Manhattan West Hotel, aka Four Manhattan West. Designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and developed by Brookfield Properties, the topped-out, 21-story building is part of Midtown’s Manhattan West master plan, which sits directly across Tenth Avenue from Hudson Yards. The Pendry will eventually yield a total of 164 guest rooms and a selection of condominiums on the upper floors.

Two Manhattan West’s Steel Superstructure Begins Ascent in Midtown West

The steel superstructure of Two Manhattan West is beginning to rise in Midtown West. Designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and developed by Brookfield, the 935-foot-tall office skyscraper will ascend directly to the south of the completed One Manhattan West and feature an identical architectural design. The 58-story building will contain two million square feet of office space and is projected to cost $2 billion.
