Exterior work is nearing completion on the renovation of 1100 Avenue of the Americas, a 15-story commercial building at the corner of West 42nd Street and Sixth Avenue in Midtown. Alternatively addressed as Two Bryant Park, the project is developed by Brookfield Properties and involves the refurbishment of the structure’s 386,190 square feet of floor space and a new modern curtain wall designed by MdeAS Architects. AECOM Tishman is the general contractor for the project.

Façade installation is progressing on 223 West 46th Street, a 20-story Marriott SpringHill hotel in Times Square. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architects and developed by McSam Hotel Group, the project will yield 70,000 square feet and 200 guest rooms. The property is located between Seventh and Eighth Avenues and is a short walk from the pedestrian plazas and retail stores that line Times Square’s iconic intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue. Zhong Wang Construction Services Inc. is the general contractor.

The Frame Building’s Office Conversion Progresses at 541 West 21st Street in West Chelsea, Manhattan

Renovation work is progressing on The Frame Building, an eight-story commercial building at 541 West 21st Street in West Chelsea. Designed by Mancini Duffy and Pizzacora and developed by Higher Ground Development, the project involves the complete gutting and office conversion of the 65,000-square-foot former warehouse as well as a full façade replacement. The 106-year-old structure stands directly adjacent to Foster + Partners‘ 551 West 21st Street and had previously served as a storage facility and art gallery. Erbo Properties LLC is the owner, JLL is the brokerage, and Cauldwell Wingate is tasked with the new construction on the property, which is located by the corner of West 21st Street and West Street.

Work continues to progress on the hotel and residential conversion of the 100-year-old Crown Building at 730 Fifth Avenue in Midtown into the Aman New York. Designed by Jean-Michel Gathy and developed by OKO Group, the project involves the construction of a low-rise annex and the restoration and repurposing of the original 26-story structure, which was designed by Warren and Wetmore and served as the first home of the Museum of Modern Art. The property is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and West 57th Street.

Disney Headquarters Rises Above Street Level at Four Hudson Square in Hudson Square, Manhattan

Construction is rising rapidly on Disney’s 1.2-million-square-foot headquarters at 137 Varick Street in Hudson Square. Alternately addressed as Four Hudson Square, the 22-story, 338-foot-tall structure is designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and is being developed by Silverstein Properties. The media giant purchased the parcel from Trinity Church Real Estate for $650 million and Skanska was responsible for the demolition of four structures that wrapped up last summerLendlease is in charge of constructing the new headquarters, which is bound by Varick Street to the east, Spring Street to the south, Hudson Street to the west, and Vandam Street to the north.
