Proposals Reveal New Three-Building Mixed-Use Complex at 1501-1555 60th Street in Borough Park, Brooklyn

A local development team is in pursuit of amendments to existing zoning ordinances to facilitate the construction of a three-building development in Borough Park, Brooklyn. Located on a multi-lot assemblage at 1501-1555 60th Street, the complex would replace a cluster of low-rise properties including a small medical office, warehouses, an automotive shop, minor residential properties, and associated parking areas.

New York YIMBY’s 2020 Construction Report Shows 36,467 New Residential Unit Filings, A 7.1% Jump

YIMBY’s 2019 New Building Report, released this time last year, showed a major jump in applications from 2017 into 2018, with new residential units filed with the Department of Buildings rising from 20,393 to 34,039. YIMBY’s 2020 New Construction Report shows that citywide gains continued into 2019, with total units filed increasing to 36,467, a jump of 2,428 or 7.1%. 11 Hoyt Street’s Podium Takes Shape in Downtown Brooklyn

Work is entering the final stretch on Jeanne Gang’s 620-foot-tall, 57-story residential skyscraper at 11 Hoyt Street in Downtown Brooklyn. Installation of the wavy, rippling exterior is substantially complete with only the section behind the mechanical hoist awaiting completion. Meanwhile, the podium and entry areas are beginning to take shape on the residential building, which is developed by Tishman Speyer and designed by Studio Gang, with Hill West Architects as the architect of record. Edmund Hollander of Hollander Design is in charge of landscaping for the outdoor green space above the motor courtyard, while Michaelis Boyd Associates is leading the interior design for the residential units.

Construction is around two-thirds of the way to the parapet at 800 Flatbush Avenue, aka Caton Flats, in Flatbush, Brooklyn. Work has moved along rapidly on the 255-unit affordable housing complex since construction began in May of 2019. The mixed-use development will also house the Flatbush-Caton Market, which originally occupied the site and is temporarily operating a few blocks south at 2184 Clarendon Road. The project is designed by Magnusson Architecture and Planning and developed by the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, the Housing Development Corporation, the Caribbean-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the BRP Companies.
