LPC Approves Penthouse Addition at 405 Vanderbilt Avenue in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn

VonDalwig Architecture has successfully petitioned the Landmarks Preservation Commission to permit the construction of a single-story penthouse expansion at 405 Vanderbilt Avenue in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. Following feedback from the commissioners in the fall, the design team reduced the peak height of the volume’s sloped roof by almost two feet, selected a lighter-colored zinc façade, and raised the existing parapet and chimneys by three rows of brick.

Façade Installation Begins on SHoP’s 9 DeKalb Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn

Curtain wall installation has begun on 9 DeKalb Avenue, soon to be the outer boroughs’ tallest building at 1,066 feet tall and number six on YIMBY’s construction countdown. Designed by SHoP Architects and developed by JDS, the 73-story Downtown Brooklyn residential skyscraper will become the first New York City supertall outside of Manhattan and will yield 425 rental apartments and 150 condominiums.

The 53,304-square-foot corner building is designed by Zproekt Architects and developed by Michael Lilikakis, and will yield a total 60 units in a mix of studios and one- and two-bedroom units. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 18 apartments for residents at 130 percent of the area median income, ranging in eligible income from $56,572 to $159,640.
