A six-story, 14-unit residential building under construction at 362 West 127th Street in Harlem — two blocks north of the 125th Street stop on the A, B, C and D lines — has reached four stories, Harlem+Bespoke reports. The building will measure 9,020 square feet, and units will be rentals, averaging just 645 square feet. The developer/property owner goes by 127 Holdings LLC, and Jock deBoer is designing.
New York State’s Court of Appeals has approved New York University’s planned four-building, 1.9 million square-foot expansion at their Greenwich Village campus, according to the Daily News, rejecting a bid by NIMBYs to block the school’s continued growth. The Jerome S. Coles Sports Center, at 20-40 East Houston Street (aka 181 Mercer Street), as well as the single-story retail buildings at 130 Bleecker Street and 535-555 LaGuardia Place, will be demolished. Completion of the entire expansion is expected by 2035.
JDS and PMG’s 82-story, 60-unit condominium tower at 111 West 57th Street, in Midtown, has received a $725 million construction loan, thanks to AIG and Apollo Global Management. SHoP Architects is designing, and the supertall is now expected to stand 1,438 feet to its pinnacle. The existing Steinway building is being partially demolished, and foundation work is currently underway, with completion slated for 2018, according to Crain’s Business. Property owner Robert Elassad has filed applications for a two-building, three-unit residential development spanning 332-334 Davis Avenue, in West New Brighton, on Staten Island’s North Shore. A two-story, two-unit building is planned at No. 332, while a two-story, single-family home is slated for No. 334; residential units will average 1,340 square feet. Calvanico Associates is the applicant of record, and an demolition applications were filed for an existing two-story structure earlier this month.
Property owner Michael D’Alessio, of Michael Paul Enterprises, has filed applications to horizontally and vertically expand (by one story) the five-story building at 184 East 64th Street on the Upper East Side. The planned six-story structure will have five residential units spread across 10,740 square feet of space, for an average unit of 2,150 square feet. The existing building is currently fit for three units, and Vail Associates is the applicant of record.
