Two-Story Whole Foods Building At 242 Bedford Avenue Now Fully Cladded, Williamsburg

Earlier this spring, glass installation began at the two-story, 50,000 square-foot Whole Foods building at 242 Bedford Avenue, in northwestern Williamsburg, and now the building’s exterior appears to be nearing completion, Brownstoner reports. At the end of Berry Street, the building takes on a more industrial look, clad in brick rather than Bedford Avenue’s glassy envelope. Aurora Capital Associates and Midtown Equities are developing, and opening is expected in the spring of 2016.


192-08 Crocheron Avenue

Two Stories, Four Residential Units Planned At 192-08 Crocheron Avenue, Auburndale

Property owner Anthony Cardinale has filed applications for twin two-family residential buildings at 192-06 – 192-08 Crocheron Avenue, in Auburndale, three blocks north of the neighborhood’s LIRR station. Each building will stand two stories, and the development will total 4,374 square feet of residential space, featuring full-floor units averaging 1,094 square feet. Great Neck-based Frank Petruso is the architect of record, and the property’s old single-family home was demolished in July.


211 Elizabeth Street

City Pushes Forward With Affordable Housing Development At 211 Elizabeth Street, Nolita

The Department of Housing and Preservation has applied for a $6 million grant from the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation to develop affordable housing at 211 Elizabeth Street/21 Spring Street, in Nolita, where the Elizabeth Street Garden currently operates. According to DNAinfo, the city has had plans to build up to 75 residential units at the vacant site since 2012. In September, the LMDC plans to hold a public hearing for the project.


10 Bond Street

Façade Wraps Up At Seven-Story, 11-Unit Condo Building At 10 Bond Street, NoHo

Nearly a year ago, YIMBY brought you a construction update on 10 Bond Street, in NoHo, where a seven-story, 11-unit condominium building is being constructed. At that point, the concrete shell had been completed and the façade’s terra cotta was beginning to be installed. Today, we know the exterior of the structure is completely installed, courtesy of photography by Tectonic. SK Development, Ironstate Development and the Chetrit Group are the developers, and Annabelle Selldorf is the designer. Occupancy is expected later this year.


New York Wheel

Cranes Arrive At New York Wheel Site in St George, Assembly Will Begin In 2016

Last month, piling began at the site of the 630-foot-tall New York Wheel, at 155 Richmond Terrace, in Staten Island’s St. George. Now cranes have arrived to assist construction, per the Staten Island Advance. Construction of a 950-space parking garage and the Wheel’s foundation is currently underway, and according to Commercial Observer, parts for the main structure will arrive in February of 2016. Skanska is building the foundation, and Starneth BV is designing.
