The Regional Plan Association of New York and Peterson Rich Office, a Brooklyn-based design studio, have released an in-depth report to help the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) identify and adopt scalable design solutions for new and existing properties. Led by the founders of Peterson Rich Office, the core focus of the research focuses on the creation of healthier homes for the 600,000 New Yorkers who live in NYCHA apartments.

The housing lottery is now open for 222 Johnson Avenue, a seven-story affordable housing development in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Developed by Slate Property Group, 222 Johnson Avenue offers 35 affordable rentals in the form of studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms to New York households with incomes from $31,680–$159,640.

Earlier this week, the New York Botanical Gardens and Douglaston Development announced a collaboration to complete two new affordable housing projects in The Bronx’s Bedford Park. The buildings will take shape near the northwest corner of the New York Botanical Gardens at 2856 Webster Avenue and 410 Bedford Park Boulevard.

Yonkers IDA Votes for $72 Million Development Project in Ravine Neighborhood

A block in the Warburton Ravine Urban Renewal Area of Yonkers will soon see a significant overhaul thanks to the Yonkers Industrial Development Agency (IDA). On September 4, the IDA gave preliminary approval of financial incentives for a $72 million development known as Point & Ravine Apartments, developed through a public partnership between the City of Yonkers and developer Conifer Realty LLC. Construction costs are estimated at $43.4 million and land acquisition at $8.24 million.

Alternately addressed as 475 Clermont Avenue, the newly constructed development by Rose Associates offers 37 affordable rentals in the form of studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms to New York households with incomes from $81,258–$159,640.

Catholic Charities Progress of Peoples Development Corporation, abbreviated as Catholic Charities, has begun construction on a new six-story affordable housing project for seniors in Astoria, Queens. Located at 23-11 31st Road, the project will debut as Bishop Valero Residence with 102 units designated for low-income seniors and the formerly homeless.

A large consortium of non-profit and private developers has revealed extensive proposals to construct two new affordable housing buildings on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. If the proposals and required zoning amendments are approved, the new structures would break ground at 151-165 Broome Street within an existing mixed-use complex referred to as Seward Park Extension.
